From the moment you walk through the door of the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai it screams luxury.

This Ratchathewi based 5 star hotel has an opulent foyer, tastefully decorated in white with gold accents, huge chandeliers and extravagant flower arrangements. As soon as we arrived, we received a very warm welcome from the friendly, attentive staff and were looked after as if we were royalty.

Let’s get in to my full Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai review and find out if it’s a good option for your stay in central Bankgok…

Eastin Grand Hotel Location

The Eastin Grand Hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Bangkok’s bustling city centre, so it makes a great base to explore this exciting and vibrant city. There are plenty of amenities close by but the real selling point is how easy it is to access transport links.

Direct Access to BTS Skytrain and Airport

The hotel has its own sky bridge that connects to the BTS Skytrain (an excellent, efficient and cool way to get around Bangkok read our guide here) and also to the Airport Rail Link Phaya Thai Station. The walkway takes you directly from the station to the hotel lifts and the main lobby, so you can really easily get around Bangkok without having to cross the crazily, busy roads.

Taxis and Tuk Tuks

As with most places in Bangkok, metered taxis are easy to grab right outside the hotel or you can ask the concierge to book one for you. Tuk tuks were my daughter’s favourite form of transport, as she’s a bit of a thrill seeker, and are also very easy to get directly outside the hotel. Beware, as they know tourists love a tuk tuk, you pay more than a taxi and have to haggle for a good price.

Pools

Infinity Pool at Sunset Eastin Grand

There are two infinity pools situated on the 22nd and 37th floors both offering amazing views over Bangkok. Cleverly, one is best in the morning as it faces west and the other is fantastic in the afternoon and a great place to watch sunset with a cocktail or two.

Whatever time of day it is, you have the perfect spot to have a refreshing dip in the pool (the water was actually cool compared to the sea and the other pools we had been in), then relax on the numerous sun loungers and day beds that overlook the pool with gorgeous views of the Bangkok skyline.

Gym

There is a well equipped gym situated on the 22nd floor, not far from the pool. It has Life Fitness machines, weight benches, free weights and a second level with cardio equipment. When we visited it was very quiet and there are towels and water available. The gym is spacious and well air conditioned, making your work out comfortable.

Spa

The Bhu Mai Spa is situated on the 37th floor of the hotel, as you get out of the lift the air is filled with relaxing scents and music, creating an atmosphere that helps you to start to relax immediately. They offer a range of indulgent treatments to help you unwind after a busy day in Bangkok. The full body massage is true bliss!

Restaurants

The hotel has two restaurants, Market@5 which is inspired by street food and decorated with vibrant colours including actual street food trucks inside. It has a relaxed and casual feel making it the perfect place to grab some lunch. This restaurant offers a combination of classic dishes from Thailand, Japan, The Middle East, India and Mexico as well as European fare.

Trattoria Restaurant and Bar Eastin Grand Hotel

The other restaurant is Trattoria@22 which serves up Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist. Trattoria has a more classy feel and has great views over Bangkok. The decor has a more muted pallet in keeping with the rest of the hotel and is bright and spacious.

Check-in

On arrival we were taken straight to the executive lounge for check-in and served arrival drinks and snacks, which was the perfect way to start our stay.

Executive Lounge

You have access to the executive lounge on the 22nd floor if you book certain rooms or packages. You can visit the lounge at anytime of day and enjoy non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.

However, between 5:30pm and 7:30pm they serve complimentary cocktails, other alcoholic drinks and what they class as canapés. We would have described it more as a full buffet, with delicious hot and cold food including Thai and European cuisine.

Food at Executive Lounge Eastin Grand Phayatahi

There are different options daily including curries, sushi, noodles, charcuterie board and even a selection of mini deserts. After tucking into this we definitely didn’t need to go out for dinner and were ready to go and explore Bangkok by night. Again the service was excellent with waiters constantly clearing plates and offering more drinks.

Accommodation

We treated ourselves and booked a premium two bedroom suite to conclude our stay in Thailand. It was definitely worth it, as it gave us plenty of space to relax after exploring the hot and hectic city of Bangkok.

Living Room in Premium 2 bedroom Suite Eastin Grand

The suite was beautifully decorated through out with two large ensuite bedrooms, a huge living space in between and to our surprise a third toilet! However, the real wow factor was the view out over Bangkok through the floor to ceiling windows from the 50th floor.

This hotel only opened in May 2023, so when we visited it wasn’t even a year old. Everything was beautifully clean and every detail had been thought out carefully. Making it have a truly luxurious feel.

We only had one slight issue, the kettle wasn’t working and being British we wanted a cup of tea. However within a few minutes of calling down to reception a new kettle arrived at our door. This is just one example of the excellent service we received, nothing ever seemed too much trouble.

During our stay, we got chance to see a few of the other rooms and they were equally well decorated and beautifully presented with similar views out over Bangkok.

Why We Loved the Eastin Grand Hotel

The Eastin Grand Hotel offers a truly luxurious experience, from the staff to the amenities, we couldn’t fault anything. The sheer opulence of the hotel, with its modern yet elegant design, made it an oasis of calm to retreat to after the hustle and bustle of the city. Returning to this hotel after venturing out to explore Bangkok was like a breath of fresh air, we could recharge and be ready for our next adventure.
