During our stay, we enjoyed the stunning views from one of the finest rooftop bars in Madrid – Cielo de Chicote. The rooftop bar is the perfect spot to unwind with a refreshing drink while admiring the cityscape – it’s one of the highest in the city and the views are breathtaking (and the cocktails aren’t bad). Additionally, the hotel features a shallow pool where you can take a quick dip to cool off during the hotter months – but be warned, this is for paddling, not swimming – just to avoid disappointment.
The area around the pool has daybeds and sun beds with complimentary towels.
One of the highlights is the proximity to the Golden Triangle of Art, with El Prado Museum just one kilometre away. This makes Hotel Montera a great option for art lovers who want to explore some of Madrid’s finest collections.

Hotel Madrid Gran Via 25 is an excellent choice if you want to stay in the heart of Madrid.
The city view rooms are a treat, offering a glimpse of the bustling street below and the modern furniture and cosy beds make for a comfortable stay.
The amenities in the rooms are top-notch. Each room is equipped with a 32-inch TV, A/C, heating, and a fully equipped bathroom.
For those travelling alone, the individual rooms are perfect and families can make use of the spacious family rooms, which even offer bunk beds and a surprise gift for toddlers.
The service at the hotel is outstanding. The staff are always eager to assist, making sure everyone’s needs are met. The minibar in the superior rooms, stocked with complimentary soft beverages, is a lovely touch.
With its central location and excellent service, this hotel is a great base for exploring Madrid.

One of the best features of the hotel is the rooftop terrace with stunning views of Gran Vía. It’s a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast served is excellent, with enough variety to have something slightly different each day.
Its central location makes it an ideal choice for exploring Madrid. I love that Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and other popular spots are within walking distance. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, making your stay even more enjoyable.

INNSiDE by Meliá Madrid Gran Vía is a gem in the heart of Madrid. It’s an ideal spot whether you’re in town for work or pleasure.
I was really impressed by the modern rooms, complete with Chromecasts for streaming my favourite shows and rain showers stocked with organic toiletries.
The atmosphere at this hotel is both contemporary and welcoming. The room I stayed in had a lovely view of Gran Vía from a small balcony, which added a charming touch to my stay. The queen-size bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the room was filled with natural light, making it feel bright and airy.
If you’re into eco-friendly travel, this hotel is a great choice. My room featured a range of environmentally friendly items and they even provided a Pilates mat, which was perfect for staying active while away. The coffee service in the room was also a fantastic perk.
Situated on Mesonero Romanos Street, it’s a short stroll to many shops, restaurants, and cultural sights. The area is buzzing with activity, and there’s always something interesting to see or do nearby.

Inside, the Hyatt Centric is stylish and modern. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with chic decor that balance elegance and functionality. The bathrooms are clean and well-appointed, complete with all necessary amenities including complimentary toileteries.
The friendly staff are always ready to help and offer recommendations of places to visit or where to get the best tapas.
Dining at the hotel was a pleasure. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of options, and the rooftop bar offered stunning views of Madrid. It was a great spot to unwind in the evening with a drink. There are plenty of dining options around the hotel as well, making it easy to find whatever you are in the mood for.

One of my favourites, the Royal Palace of Madrid, is just a 15-minute walk from Gran Via. This area allows you to enjoy other historic sites too, such as the Catedral de la Almudena. For art lovers, the Prado Museum is easily accessible, offering a vast collection of European art.
Being so close to these attractions means you can maximise your sightseeing without spending too much time travelling. Walking the streets around Gran Via, you will also find numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes, perfect for pit stops between visiting the main sights.

Gran Via itself is a major transport hub. Several metro stations, including Gran Via and Callao, are situated on this street, providing access to multiple metro lines. I often use the metro as it’s such a convenient and quick way to get around the city.
There are also many bus routes that pass through or near Gran Via, connecting you to parts of Madrid that might not be accessible by metro. For example, buses can take you to areas like Retiro Park or Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Taxis and rideshare services are readily available in this area, making it easy to get around if you prefer not to use public transport. Additionally, many walking tours start around Gran Via, giving you an in-depth exploration of Madrid’s history and culture.
