Bali is a fantastic choice for families. It offers a mix of beautiful beaches, cultural attractions, and vibrant markets. Choosing the destination is one thing, but finding the right hotel for your family is what really can make all the difference to your family vacation.
If you’re like me, you’ll spend hours scouring the internet, searching for any detail that may make or break your final decision. To make things a little easier, I’ve put together some of the best family-friendly hotels in Bali I’ve been fortunate enough to visit, and can recommend as excellent options to keep everyone in your family happy.
Some are peaceful retreats, others offer more entertainment (or supervision) for the kids. I’ve included some luxurious resorts as well as budget-friendly options, so that everyone can experience the beauty of Bali.
1: The Apurva Kempinski Bali
The Apurva Kempinski Bali has an exceptional reputation, and it certainly delivered when I visited.
Perched on the cliffs of Nusa Dua, you’ll be treated to sensational views of the Indian ocean right from the hotel, with tropical gardens between you and the waves.

The hotel offers 475 rooms, suites, and villas, each beautifully designed with luxurious touches. I stayed in a suite that provided ample space for my family. The kids loved the pool area, and the hotel makes every effort to ensure children feel welcome and entertained.
The hotel’s dining experience is remarkable, offering a selection of restaurants bursting with colour, flavour, and variety.
My family particularly enjoyed the authentic Balinese dishes. The atmosphere in each dining venue is inviting, and not overly fussy – as a family we all enjoyed dining here.
For relaxation, The Apurva Spa is a must-visit. The spa treatments, based on traditional wellness techniques, provide a perfect way for us adults to unwind.
I tried their Lulur and Jamu therapies and they were exceptional. It was a much needed peaceful retreat – highly recommended for some parent rejuvenation!

2: The Ritz-Carlton, Bali
The Ritz-Carlton, Bali is simply exquisite. So much so, I was a little nervous it would be too exquisite for a family.
However, we certainly weren’t the only family here, and were made to feel very welcome.

Situated in the serene area of Nusa Dua, this resort offers a perfect mix of luxury and family-friendly amenities. The elegant tropical ambiance and spectacular views of the Indian Ocean left us all in awe.
The rooms are spacious – we stayed in one of their suites which was beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and reflected the luxury that Ritz-Carlton is known for. Our private pool was a real treat, providing a secluded space to relax and have fun. I could also take a dip while the kids were asleep.
The resort offers a variety of dining options to suit all tastes. We had memorable meals at the Beach Grill, which offered incredible fresh seafood accompanied with a welcome ocean breeze. For a change of pace, the Indonesian dishes at Bejana were delicious.
The Ritz Kids club is also to hand if you want some quiet time.
The spa at the resort is fantastic, deeply inspired by marine elements. I had a relaxing treatment that used pearls and seaweed, in a beautiful setting overlooking the tropical gardens.
Every detail here is carefully crafted and considered, and the staff were wonderful.

3: Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach
The Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is another Bali hotel perfect for families. We particularly loved it here as it is located right on Seminyak’s vibrant beachfront. It’s an ideal spot for enjoying both the beach and local culture.

The hotel offers 289 rooms, suites, and pool villas. Each is beautifully designed with plush bedding and spa-inspired bathrooms. My room even had a balcony with a daybed, which was great for relaxing after a day out.
There are six different café and bar experiences on site, including a beachside lounge called SugarSand (my favourite spot).
The kids loved the variety of food, and I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and kind staff. It’s also located just a 30-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport, so we didn’t have to suffer exhausting transfers.
Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach provides many amenities like complimentary WiFi, a 24-hour health club, and the Sava Spa – something for everyone.
The vibrant nightlife and fashionable boutiques of Seminyak are just a step away, so if you have older children this could be a real plus.

4: Holiday Inn Resort Bali Canggu
Holiday Inn Resort Bali Canggu is the perfect family getaway if you’re looking for a lively, fun atmosphere. I loved how it was nestled among popular boutiques and cafes – it’s a great option if you like to venture out.

The rooms and suites offer fantastic views, with a fusion of modern decor and authentic Balinese culture. And the views really are something – each morning, I’d wake a little earlier before everyone else to soak up the stunning ocean view from my balcony.
The Family Suites, complete with playful bunk beds, are a big hit with kids. Our younger travel companions were especially thrilled with the kids’ club, which provided endless entertainment.
Relaxation is easy here. I spent many evenings by the rooftop infinity pool, a great spot for watching sunsets. The Rooftop Pool Bar served delicious cocktails while offering a mesmerising view of the ocean. During beach days at Batu Bolong, the all-day dining options had something for everyone.
The resort perfectly captures Canggu’s bohemian vibe with its nearby boutiques and cafes. Every detail, from the contemporary decor to premium amenities, reflects modern Balinese hospitality.
The Holiday Inn Resort Bali Canggu combines enjoyment and relaxation perfectly here.

5: COMO Uma Ubud
COMO Uma Ubud is like a diamond amongst nature – as though it’s been here for centuries, yet it’s delightfully modern.

This theme continues in your room, too. We stayed in a sun-filled villa with a private pool, surrounded by luscious plants. This place makes you feel like you’re in the rich depths of nature, yet it’s located right in Ubud, Bali’s arts and culture hub.
The transfer time to this resort is 90 minutes from the airport. So a little longer than some others, but certainly not the longest trek – and worth the trip.
We also often used the complimentary shuttle service to explore Ubud’s town centre, which took just five minutes. The shuttle runs daily, so it was super easy to visit nearby attractions if you fancy a change of scenery.
The hotel is passionate about wellness, and even offers an in-room yoga mat and meditation videos on the TV, which I thought was a lovely touch. You also have the COMO Shambhala wellness facilities, including a pool and fitness centre, which is a real bonus facility here.
The dining options were superb. At their restaurant Kemiri, I tried traditional Indonesian dishes, while Uma Cucina offered delicious Italian-inspired food.
Like all families, we loved having such variety, and the food and service was excellent.

6: Viceroy Bali
The Viceroy Bali is a strong recommendation of mine for families looking for a luxurious retreat. Situated just five minutes from the centre of Ubud, Viceroy Bali blends traditional Balinese architecture with modern amenities.

This extravagent, tranquil resort has a collection of 40 private pool villas, and they all offer stunning views of the valley.
Our villa had a heated pool, a spacious living area, and modern amenities like a Bower and Wilkins Bluetooth Speaker. It was like a little sanctuary of our own in the middle of a slice of heaven.
Dining at Viceroy was a real delight. The CasCades Restaurant offers all-day dining with delicious meals.
For a more refined experience, the Apéritif fine dining restaurant is an excellent choice, and their new gourmet restaurant and bar is a must.
Something that really stood out here was the exceptional service. The staff genuinely cares about your experience and we felt thoroughly looked after.
If you want to venture out for something a little different, there’s also a convenient shuttle into Ubud – exploring the local area was effortless, even with children in tow!

7: The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali
My family and I were fortunate enough to discover The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali, and I was struck by its elegance and charm. It’s a five-star resort right on the beach, in the bustling centre of Kuta.

The architecture was noticeably beautiful here, clearly inspired by Bali’s rich cultural history. The rooms themselves are luxurious and comfortable with plenty of amenities, and the staff are incredibly hospitable.
Dining here was as extravagantly presented as the resort itself, offering a mix of contemporary and traditional Balinese cuisine.
Kunyit Restaurant and Sands Restaurant were my personal favourites during our stay. Kunyit Restaurant offers a family-style dining experience, which is a great way to enjoy the local culture.
Sands Restaurant provides a more modern dining approach, perfect for a relaxing meal by the beach.
The Anvaya’s direct beach access was a highlight of my stay. I loved being able to walk straight from my room to the sandy shores. The resort’s pool bar is also a fantastic spot to unwind with a drink while soaking up the sun.

8: AYANA Resort Bali
AYANA Resort Bali is a really luxurious experience that combines nature, culture, and wellbeing. The resort is set where the forest meets the sea, fully setting a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation.

The Rock Bar was especially impressive, located on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The views at sunset are absolutely breathtaking.
The resort also features several high-end restaurants and pools, and there’s plenty of entertainment for all family members.
The resort’s villas are spacious, airy, and elegantly designed. Ours felt luxurious and comfortable all at once.
The amenities here cater to both adults and children – clearly a great place for families looking to enjoy a luxury vacation. The resort also offers unique maritime excursions that are a must for that once-in-a-lifetime experience.

9: SereS Springs Resort & Spa Singakerta
The SereS Springs Resort & Spa Singakerta in Ubud is another unbelievable place for families to stay in Bali. The resort is situated in the heart of Ubud, which is loved for its cultural heritage.

Here I discovered a blend of luxury and traditional Balinese charm, a retreat that bathes in relaxation and thrives on adventure.
The resort is surrounded by lush valleys, rivers, waterfalls, and terraced rice fields – it’s a stunning location. The villas are spacious and private, a quiet place where we could all unwind.
Plus, the resort’s location makes it easy to explore local Ubud attractions, including traditional markets and temples.
Now you’ll notice by now that I love a spa, and the one here was no exception. Their signature spa treatments were rejuvenating, and the staff were incredibly attentive. I highly recommend going there – it’s a wonderful way for parents to relax while the kids enjoy the resort’s pools.
There are also plenty of activities for children – mine felt full entertained during our stay.
The resort staff were friendly and always willing to help, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

10: The Bandha Hotel & Suites
Located in the vibrant heart of Legian, The Bandha Hotel & Suites is another superb choice for families. The beachfront property offers a mix of luxury and comfort with contemporary Balinese design.

The hotel’s 90 rooms and suites are spacious and elegant. Ours opened out into the pool, and though it’s rather an intimate space amongst others, it really was a nice addition. I’d often read a book or sip a cocktail with my toes in, while the others caught up on some sleep.
The rooftop lounge is a great spot to unwind here. It offers casual drinks and light bites while watching the sunset.
For dining, Mozzarella by The Sea offers fantastic food. The live music on different nights really uplifted the atmosphere.
The friendly staff themselves go above and beyond too, and couldn’t be more helpful.
They also have their Visala Spa provides rejuvenating treatments, which I didn’t get to make use of here unfortunately, but it’s certainly worth a mention.
The hotel’s central location is a huge plus, being only a short distance away from the local attractions and beach.

Family-Friendly Amenities
Bali hotels excel at offering a range of amenities that cater specifically to families. From engaging kids’ clubs to elaborate water parks and trusted childcare services, there’s something for everyone.
Below, I’ve detailed the key features that make these hotels stand out for family vacations.
Kids’ Clubs and Activities
Many Bali hotels provide kids’ clubs designed to entertain and educate children of various ages. These clubs offer activities like arts and crafts, games, and cultural lessons. For example, some hotels have Bali-themed activities such as Balinese dance lessons or traditional kite making.
The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay is a wonderful resort for this, where children can enjoy daily excursions and fun learning experiences. The staff are energetic and attentive, ensuring kids are having a fantastic time while parents relax.
Family Pools and Water Parks
Family pools and on-site water parks are a huge hit in Bali’s top family-friendly hotels. These pools often have shallow areas for young children, slides, and splash pads. At the Mulia Resort, there’s a dedicated family pool complete with water fountains and fun water features.
Some properties even offer extensive water parks. The Hard Rock Hotel Bali is a great example of this, featuring a large pool with slides, a lazy river, and a kids’ water playground. It’s easy for families to spend hours enjoying water activities without leaving the hotel.
Childcare Services
Reliable childcare services are crucial for some of us travelling with young children. Babysitting and nanny services provide parents the flexibility to enjoy some adult time – a romantic dinner or a spa day perhaps, where children aren’t permitted.
For a trusted service, I recommend the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, where professional caregivers ensure that children are well looked after, and fully engaging them in fun and safe activities. My children were in good hands, and I was able to completely switch off for a while.
Dining Options for Families
Dining as a family is an important part of the holiday experience. Many hotels in Bali offer amenities and menus designed specifically for children, on-site restaurants catering to all tastes, and convenient room service options. Here are some great dining options for families in Bali.
Kid-Friendly Menus
Bali hotels like the Grand Hyatt Bali provide special children’s menus. These menus often include nutritious and familiar dishes that appeal to younger palates, such as spaghetti, chicken nuggets, and fresh fruit.
The Westin Resort Nusa Dua also excels with its “Eat Well” menu designed for kids, featuring balanced meals that are both tasty and healthy. This makes it easier for us parents to ensure our children are eating well without sacrificing flavour or nutrition (or causing a fuss at the table).
Room Service and In-Room Dining
Room service is a vital option for families who might prefer dining in the comfort of their rooms.
The InterContinental Bali Resort provides an extensive in-room dining menu. It ranges from local Balinese cuisine to international favourites, and is available round the clock. This is ideal for families with young children who might need to stick to a specific eating schedule.
The Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, also offers exceptional room service. They prepare meals that can be enjoyed on a private terrace overlooking scenic views. This gives families the flexibility to eat when they want, and provides a more comfortable, less pressured dining experience.
Choosing a hotel with these dining options can make all the difference to your stay in Bali. Your family holiday should be both enjoyable and stress-free, so look out for these key features, and consider the above recommendations for a memorable family holiday in Bali.
