<p>Sanur isn&#8217;t the Bali most people picture when they first start planning a trip. You probably think of Seminyak&#8217;s <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/best-beach-clubs-in-bali/">beach clubs</a> or Kuta&#8217;s chaos. But Sanur is the quiet one and once you&#8217;ve spent a few days there, you start to wonder why you&#8217;d ever go anywhere else.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-b15f0408"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-b15f0408" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Beach-in-Sanur.jpg" alt="White sands of Sanur beach" title="Beach in Sanur" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Beach-in-Sanur.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Beach-in-Sanur-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Beach-in-Sanur-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>It&#8217;s one of Bali&#8217;s oldest resort areas, tourism here started long before the Instagram crowds arrived, and that history gives it a grounded, village-like feel that&#8217;s genuinely hard to find on the island particularly in the south. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s a 7km beachfront promenade lined with cafes, temples, and bikes for hire. The reef keeps the water calm, which makes it brilliant for families or anyone who just wants to swim without getting battered by waves. And it&#8217;s only about 20-30 minutes from the airport, which after a long-haul flight, really matters.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-541a6383"><img decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-541a6383" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Beach.jpg" alt="Sanur Beach Front From Above " title="Sanur Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Beach.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Beach-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Beach-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>In this guide, I&#8217;m covering the best places to stay across every budget, from proper luxury retreats to guesthouses where the owner brings you coffee in the morning. Prices are approximate in USD for 2026 and do vary by season, but you&#8217;re generally looking at anywhere from $30 to $350 per night depending on what you&#8217;re after.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">So Why Sanur?</h2>

<p>The beach here is lovely, white sand, clear water, protected by a reef so it stays safe for swimming and paddling. The boardwalk is one of my favourite things about the place; you can rent a bike and just cruise for hours past little warungs, temples, and street art. Sunrise is something else entirely, I was out there at 6am one morning and had the whole stretch almost to myself. Worth the early alarm.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s also perfectly placed. Ferries to Nusa Penida leave from just down the road, so it works well as a base for day trips. And eating here is cheap if you step away from the resort menus, the local warungs on the main streets have meals for only a few dollars. One thing to flag: seaweed can wash up on the beach seasonally, which some people find off-putting. It comes and goes. Not a dealbreaker, just worth knowing.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Luxury End</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;re going to treat yourself somewhere, Sanur is perfect. The high-end spots here sit in the $150-350/night range, and a few of them are genuinely exceptional, not just &#8220;nice for the price,&#8221; but actually really special.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Maya Sanur Resort &amp; Spa</h3>

<p>This is the one I keep coming back to when people ask for a recommendation for a honeymoon or a romantic trip. The architecture is stunning, all lagoon-access rooms, private balconies, and those infinity pools that make you feel like you&#8217;re hovering over the water. The spa is excellent, the breakfast spread is impressive, and the staff have a way of making the whole place feel effortless without being over the top. It&#8217;s pricey, yes. But for a special occasion, it is definitely worth it.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-f4c690fc"><img decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-f4c690fc" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Maya-Sanur-Resort-Spa.jpg" alt="Pool at Maya Sanur Resort and Spa as the sunsets" title="Maya Sanur Resort &amp; Spa" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Maya-Sanur-Resort-Spa.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Maya-Sanur-Resort-Spa-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Maya-Sanur-Resort-Spa-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hyatt Regency Bali</h3>

<p>A slightly different vibe, bigger, more family-oriented, with multiple pools and a private beach stretch. The grounds are beautiful, dining options are varied (the beachside setting at lunch is hard to beat), and there&#8217;s a club lounge that makes the upgrade worth it. A few people I know have returned here several times, which says something. Just skip the resort breakfast if it&#8217;s not included, there are better options outside for a fraction of the cost.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-7f1327e9"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-7f1327e9" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Hyatt-Regency-Bali.jpg" alt="Beach front aerial shot of the Hyatt Regency Bali" title="Hyatt Regency Bali" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Hyatt-Regency-Bali.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Hyatt-Regency-Bali-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Hyatt-Regency-Bali-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bali Beach Hotel (The Meru Collection)</h3>

<p>This one has history, it&#8217;s been part of Sanur&#8217;s landscape for decades and has been renovated into something truly elegant. Sea-view balconies, lagoon pools, a kids&#8217; club, and a gym. The shared facilities with the adjacent buildings can feel a little disjointed if you&#8217;re not expecting it, but the character of the place more than compensates. It&#8217;s the sort of hotel that feels like it has a story to tell.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-8c270616"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-8c270616" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Bali-Beach-Hotel.jpg" alt="View from a room at Bali Beach Hotel Sanur" title="Bali Beach Hotel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Bali-Beach-Hotel.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Bali-Beach-Hotel-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Bali-Beach-Hotel-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Middle Ground: Great Value Without Going Overboard</h2>

<p>This is honestly where Sanur shines brightest. The $60-200/night bracket here is stacked with good options, places with proper pools, gardens, and close enough to the beach that you won&#8217;t feel short-changed.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">ARTOTEL Sanur</h3>

<p>Boutique, stylish, with a rooftop infinity pool that catches the sunrise beautifully, this one tends to appeal to solo travellers and couples who want something with a bit more personality than a standard chain hotel. It&#8217;s not right on the beach (short walk), but the aesthetic more than makes up for it. The breakfast gets rave reviews, and it&#8217;s well-positioned for both the beach and the local shops.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-685782b8"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-685782b8" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/ARTOTEL-Sanur.jpg" alt="Infinity pool at ARTOTEL Sanur " title="ARTOTEL Sanur" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/ARTOTEL-Sanur.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/ARTOTEL-Sanur-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/ARTOTEL-Sanur-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Prama Sanur Beach Hotel</h3>

<p>Direct beach access, a kids&#8217; splash zone, a swim-up bar, and lush gardens, this one does family holidays well. The staff get consistently good feedback, there are bikes to hire, and the kids&#8217; club means parents might actually get an hour to themselves. One minor note: pool shade is limited, so bring hats for the little ones.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-70480693"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-70480693" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Prama-Sanur-Beach-Hotel.jpg" alt="Pool at Prama Sanur Beach Hotel" title="Prama Sanur Beach Hotel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Prama-Sanur-Beach-Hotel.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Prama-Sanur-Beach-Hotel-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Prama-Sanur-Beach-Hotel-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Holiday Inn Bali Sanur</h3>

<p>Don&#8217;t dismiss this one just because it&#8217;s a chain. The rooftop pool with ocean views is beautiful, the bedding is quality, and the location near the ferry terminal makes it particularly practical if you&#8217;re planning a day trip to Nusa Penida. Rooms are consistently clean and well-maintained. It&#8217;s not exciting, but it&#8217;s reliable and sometimes that&#8217;s exactly what you need.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-ecea58ae"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-ecea58ae" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Holiday-Inn-Bali-Sanur.jpg" alt="View from the pool at Holiday Inn Bali Sanur" title="Holiday Inn Bali Sanur" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Holiday-Inn-Bali-Sanur.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Holiday-Inn-Bali-Sanur-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Holiday-Inn-Bali-Sanur-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sanur Resort Watujimbar</h3>

<p>Spacious rooms, plunge pools, and a large pool with a bar, this one punches above its price point. It&#8217;s close to the shops and beach without being right in the thick of it, which suits people who want a quieter base. Good for longer stays.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-28ff2b0b"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-28ff2b0b" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Resort-Watujimbar.jpg" alt="Sanur Resort Watujimbar" title="Sanur Resort Watujimbar" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Resort-Watujimbar.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Resort-Watujimbar-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Sanur-Resort-Watujimbar-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Our Budget Picks</h2>

<p>Under $70/night in Sanur goes further than you&#8217;d expect. You&#8217;re not going to get a private villa, but there are some genuinely charming guesthouses and small hotels that make Bali feel accessible without any compromise on the experience that actually matters.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Laghawa Beach Hotel</h3>

<p>Direct beach access, a garden pool, lotus ponds, and traditional Balinese architecture, Laghawa is one of those places that feels like a hidden gem. The grounds are quiet, the sunrise spot is hard to beat, and the whole thing has a character that you just don&#8217;t get from budget chain hotels. Rooms are on the older side and there can be some noise depending on where you&#8217;re situated, but for the price, it&#8217;s brilliant. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-9f18f773"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-9f18f773" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Laghawa-Beach-Hotel.jpg" alt="Traditional Balinese Hotel Room Laghawa Beach Hotel" title="Laghawa Beach Hotel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Laghawa-Beach-Hotel.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Laghawa-Beach-Hotel-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Laghawa-Beach-Hotel-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Kembali Lagi Guest House</h3>

<p>Small, peaceful, and run with a level of care that you don&#8217;t always find at this price point. The pool is lovely, the breakfast gets excellent feedback, and the staff are the kind of helpful that actually makes a difference, sorting last-minute scooter hire, recommending where to eat whatever you want they&#8217;re there for you. There are family suites available, too, which makes it more versatile than it might first appear. It&#8217;s not flashy, but it&#8217;s warm and friendly.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-f3b182b3"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-f3b182b3" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kembali-Lagi-Guest-House.jpg" alt="Kembali Lagi Guest House, Sanur" title="Kembali Lagi Guest House" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kembali-Lagi-Guest-House.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kembali-Lagi-Guest-House-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Kembali-Lagi-Guest-House-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Book</h2>

<p>Stay central if you can, being walkable to the main strip of warungs and the boardwalk makes a real difference to how you experience the place. Resort dining is fine, but eating out at local spots will save you a significant amount and often taste better anyway.</p>

<p>Book via apps and check for shoulder season deals, late April through June, and again in September, tend to be sweet spots where prices drop but the weather holds. Peak season (July, August, and Christmas) sees rates climb sharply, so either book well ahead or be prepared to pay for it.</p>

<p>Renting a scooter gives you a lot more flexibility, particularly for getting to restaurants and markets beyond the main drag. Most hotels can arrange this for you. And if you&#8217;re planning a Nusa Penida day trip, check ferry times in advance, as the early morning boats tend to fill up quickly.</p>

<p>One last thing: check your specific hotel&#8217;s beach access before you book if that&#8217;s a priority. Some mid-range spots are a 5-10 minute walk rather than beachfront, which is fine for most people but worth knowing. The reef means tides can affect how much sand is exposed — not a huge deal, but something to bear in mind.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why We Love Sanur</h2>

<p>Sanur doesn&#8217;t need to be sold hard. It just works, for families, for couples, for solo travellers who want somewhere calm to decompress after months of planning. The accommodation options here span every budget without ever feeling like you&#8217;re compromising on the Bali experience.</p>

<p>Whether you end up at Maya&#8217;s infinity pool or a guesthouse with lotus ponds and a friendly host who knows every good warung in a five-minute radius, you&#8217;re going to be fine. More than fine, actually. That&#8217;s the thing about Sanur. It has a way of quietly exceeding expectations.</p>

<p>Legian sits right between Kuta&#8217;s chaos and Seminyak&#8217;s polished boutique scene, which makes it perfect if you want a bit of both worlds and it&#8217;s only half an hour from the airport. It&#8217;s one of those places where you can roll out of bed and be on the beach in five minutes, spend your afternoon getting a massage for less than a tenner, then grab fresh seafood and a cold Bintang as the sun sets. It&#8217;s not fancy but that&#8217;s why I love it.</p>

<p>The beach itself runs for ages, with a flat boardwalk that&#8217;s perfect for evening strolls (though you&#8217;ll have to dodge a few vendors and the occasional beach football game). The surf&#8217;s gentle enough for beginners, which is why you&#8217;ll see loads of surf schools set up along the sand. We had our first ever family surf lesson here and it was so much fun we extended it.</p>

<p>What I&#8217;m about to share comes from my own stays and plenty of conversations with other travellers I&#8217;ve met along the way. Whether you&#8217;ve got £30 a night to spend or you&#8217;re ready to splash out on something a bit special, I&#8217;ll help you find the best places to stay in Legian.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay In Legian</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/padma-resort-bali-at-legian.en-gb.html">Padma Resort Legian</a></strong> &#8211; a gorgeous beachfront resort with multiple infinity pools, lush gardens, and amazing service</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/camakila-legian-bali.en-gb.html">Away Bali Legian Camakila</a></strong> &#8211; a great-value beachfront resort with pools, spa, gym, and great staff</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Legian Makes Sense</h2>

<p>The location is the main draw. You&#8217;re within walking distance of loads of restaurants along Garlic Lane, there&#8217;s shopping on Legian Street when you need a new sarong or some souvenirs, and the beach is basically your back garden. Day trips to Ubud for the rice terraces and temples are easy enough to arrange, or you can head south to Uluwatu for dramatic cliff views.</p>

<p>Cost-wise, Legian is really reasonable. You can find basic but clean accommodation for around £30 a night, or go completely overboard with luxury resorts that&#8217;ll set you back £400 plus. Street food is ridiculously cheap. I&#8217;ve had full meals with a beer for under a fiver. Even the nicer restaurants won&#8217;t break the bank compared to what you&#8217;d pay back home.</p>

<p>One thing that struck me about Legian is how it manages to feel lively without being completely overwhelming. There&#8217;s energy and buzz, especially near the beach, but walk a few streets back and things calm down. It&#8217;s that balance that makes it work for so many different types of travellers, families, couples and solo adventurers.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Luxury End </h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Padma Resort Legian</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Padma Resort Legian</strong> might be the most talked-about place on the strip. It&#8217;s directly on the beach with infinity pools that look out over the ocean, four pools in total, so you&#8217;re not fighting for space. They&#8217;ve got garden chalets scattered around, complimentary bike rides if you fancy exploring, and an adults-only club lounge that feels very exclusive. Rooms start around £110 a night depending on when you book.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-83493be1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-83493be1" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Padma-Resort-Legian.jpg" alt="Padma Resort Legian pool and grounds from above showing its proximity to the ocean" title="Padma Resort Legian" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Padma-Resort-Legian.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Padma-Resort-Legian-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Padma-Resort-Legian-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>I chatted to a family who stayed there and they couldn&#8217;t stop going on about the morning bike adventures and how attentive the staff were. They did mention it set them back a fair bit, something like £10k for eight nights with five people, which includes flights and activities. </p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for beachfront luxury where everything&#8217;s taken care of, this is the one for you. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Legian Beach Hotel</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Legian Beach Hotel</strong> is built in a traditional Balinese style with 236 rooms ranging from standard superior up to spacious pool villas. Prices vary wildly, from about £75 for a basic room to £350+ for the fancy villas. They&#8217;ve got two pools: the Frangipani pool is family-oriented with a swim-up bar, whilst the Coco pool is adults-only if you want to escape the splashing.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-0f612b42"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-0f612b42" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Legian-Beach-Hotel.jpg" alt="Legian Beach Hotel set in lush green grounds right next to the sea" title="Legian Beach Hotel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Legian-Beach-Hotel.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Legian-Beach-Hotel-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Legian-Beach-Hotel-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>What I found interesting here was the amount of activities they lay on. There are Balinese dance classes, cooking workshops, themed dinners, and evening fire shows. The beachside bungalows come with sarongs as a welcome gift, which is a lovely touch. </p>

<p>The food got good reviews across the board, though some people mentioned the gardens looked a bit tired in certain areas. Still, the overall consensus seemed to be &#8220;amazing&#8221; for the price point.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Stones Hotel</strong></h3>

<p><strong>The Stones Hotel</strong> is part of Marriott&#8217;s Autograph Collection, so you know it&#8217;s going to be a certain standard. It has a massive pool with a swim-up bar and jacuzzi, spacious rooms with balconies (some have private plunge pools), and it&#8217;s literally steps from Kuta Beach and the shopping areas. Rooms go from around £110 upwards.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-5cd5a90f"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-5cd5a90f" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Stones-Hotel.jpg" alt="View from a balcony at The Stones Hotel in Legian, Bali" title="The Stones Hotel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Stones-Hotel.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Stones-Hotel-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Stones-Hotel-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The breakfast buffet here is apparently something else with custom eggs, loads of salad options, Asian dishes, even ice cream. You get welcomed with fresh coconut water, which feels very Bali. The bathrooms are done up in marble and feel quite modern. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s about a five-minute walk to the beach and 20-40 minutes to the airport or Seminyak depending on traffic.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Bali Mandira Beach Resort &amp; Spa</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Bali Mandira Beach Resort &amp; Spa</strong> is another beachfront option with an infinity pool for adults and a separate fun pool for kids. The swim-up bar is a nice feature, and they&#8217;ve got family cottages if you need the extra space. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-71061c11"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-71061c11" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Bali-Mandira-Beach-Resort-Spa-.jpg" alt="Beautiful traditional buildings at Bali Mandira Beach Resort &amp; Spa " title="Bali Mandira Beach Resort &amp; Spa" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Bali-Mandira-Beach-Resort-Spa-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Bali-Mandira-Beach-Resort-Spa--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Bali-Mandira-Beach-Resort-Spa--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>What people seem to love most is being able to walk straight onto the beach from your room – no roads to cross or long walks through corridors. The spa gets high marks too. One woman told me she&#8217;d had this incredible massage there that felt like &#8220;complete mind and body reset,&#8221; though that might&#8217;ve just been the holiday talking.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Astagina Resort Villas And Spa</strong></h3>

<p>If you want something a bit more secluded, <strong>Astagina Resort Villas And Spa</strong> offers private pool villas set in tranquil gardens. Two large communal pools, spa discounts, complimentary breakfast and high tea, and you&#8217;re still close enough to shops and the beach. Prices start around £75 a night. The villas are genuinely spacious, good for couples or small groups who want their own space. The pools are great if you&#8217;ve got kids who want to splash around whilst you sit nearby with a drink.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mid-Range and Budget That Actually Deliver</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Away Bali Legian Camakila</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Away Bali Legian Camakila</strong> has a day spa, sauna, gym, and pools (basically everything you need without the luxury price tag). Some rooms are poolside which is handy if you&#8217;ve got early-rising kids. The staff consistently get praised, the food&#8217;s decent, and the beach is ridiculously close. Air conditioning works well, which matters more than you&#8217;d think during humid stretches.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-01cb0dcf"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-01cb0dcf" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Away-Bali-Legian-Camakila.jpg" alt="Pool lit up at night at Away Bali Legian Camakila" title="Away Bali Legian Camakila" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Away-Bali-Legian-Camakila.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Away-Bali-Legian-Camakila-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Away-Bali-Legian-Camakila-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort</strong></h3>

<p><strong>The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort</strong> gets mixed reviews, but still a great option. Parts of it feel a bit dated but it&#8217;s one of those older properties that&#8217;s been around forever. The pools are large with plenty of sunbeds, you&#8217;ve got direct beach access, and the breakfast is good. The staff are friendly and it&#8217;s in a family-friendly location. If you&#8217;re not bothered about having the newest fixtures and fittings, and you prioritise location and beach access over Instagram-worthy interiors, it does the job. Prices are around £50-70 a night.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-77ce4310"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-77ce4310" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Jayakarta-Bali-Beach-Resort.jpg" alt="Four poster bed at The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort" title="The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Jayakarta-Bali-Beach-Resort.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Jayakarta-Bali-Beach-Resort-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/The-Jayakarta-Bali-Beach-Resort-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/champlung-mas-legian.en-gb.html">Champlung Mas Hotel</a></strong> is another humble option close to the beach, markets, and food courts. Beautiful garden, easy transport connections, and the staff are really helpful. It&#8217;s basic in the best possible way, clean, comfortable, affordable. Great if you&#8217;re the type who spends minimal time in your room.</p>

<p>For proper budget picks, <strong>Zest Legian</strong> sits right in the heart of everything, <strong>Legian Village Hotel</strong> has pools and is on Garlic Lane which puts you close to loads of dining and shopping options, and <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/all-seasons-resort-legian.en-gb.html">Ibis Styles Bali Legian</a></strong> offers that reliable Accor standard for around £25-75 a night depending on the season. All family-friendly, all delivering more than you&#8217;d expect for the price.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Villas and Airbnbs Worth Considering</h2>

<p>If you want your own space, <strong><a href="https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/47511795?viralityEntryPoint=1&amp;s=76&amp;source_impression_id=p3_1768307834_P3sjOzhyirEn5xKI">Big Garden Villa 3BR</a></strong> on Airbnb is fantastic. It has three bedrooms AND three and a half bathrooms, spread across two floors. You&#8217;ve got a full kitchen, living area, free Wi-Fi, international TV with YouTube, and this massive private garden with its own shrine (that the owner comes and puts offerings on every day).</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-c5365518"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-c5365518" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Big-Garden-Villa-Legian-.jpg" alt="Huge Garden In Big Garden Villa Legian, Bali" title="Big Garden Villa Legian" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Big-Garden-Villa-Legian-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Big-Garden-Villa-Legian--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Big-Garden-Villa-Legian--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>It sleeps six, costs around £100-150 a night depending on dates, and it&#8217;s a five-minute walk to Padma Beach. It is just off Garlic Lane so shops and restaurants are only a few steps away. When we stayed there a new mobile coffee shop (on the back of a scooter) had just opened up a few hundred metres away so the morning coffee run didn&#8217;t take long. </p>

<p>The host, Daisuke, sorts out tours and surf guides if you need them, and nothing is too much trouble. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-279d05ea"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-279d05ea" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Garden-Villa-Legian.jpg" alt="Collage of pictures at sunrise in Big Garden Villa Legian" title="Garden Villa Legian" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Garden-Villa-Legian.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Garden-Villa-Legian-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Garden-Villa-Legian-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Our kids loved having an actual garden all to themselves and a private pool they didn&#8217;t have to share. </p>

<p>My favourite part was the balcony that caught the early morning sun. I could just open the bedroom doors and sit out there with a cup of coffee and my book before everyone else got up. </p>

<p><strong>Sun Island Boutique Villas</strong> sits on the Seminyak border and offers both private and shared pool options with breakfast included. Prices start around £110 a night. You get the privacy of a villa with the accessibility of being close to everything Legian and Seminyak offer.</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Practical Bits That Actually Help</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;re travelling with family, prioritise beachfront properties with decent pool setups. Places like Jayakarta or Mandira work well. Villas like Big Garden give you space to spread out without paying resort prices. Some people split their stays between Legian and somewhere quieter like Sanur, which I would definitely recommend. </p>

<p>Book through <a href="https://www.booking.com/searchresults.en-gb.html?ss=Legian%2C+Bali%2C+Indonesia&amp;efdco=1&amp;label=gen173nr-10CAEoggI46AdIM1gEaFCIAQGYATO4AQfIAQzYAQPoAQH4AQGIAgGoAgG4Atun78oGwAIB0gIkNGVlNDZlNGItNWUwYy00ZDhkLTk3NWMtN2NhZGRlMjkxNDM42AIB4AIB&amp;sid=759b749d0ed83026ac023f31e2a4f0d1&amp;aid=304142&amp;lang=en-gb&amp;sb=1&amp;src_elem=sb&amp;src=index&amp;dest_id=900048191&amp;dest_type=city&amp;ac_position=0&amp;ac_click_type=b&amp;ac_langcode=en&amp;ac_suggestion_list_length=5&amp;search_selected=true&amp;search_pageview_id=6e7b73cd0d4104a3&amp;ac_meta=GhA2ZTdiNzNjZDBkNDEwNGEzIAAoATICZW46BmxlZ2lhbg%3D%3D&amp;group_adults=2&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_children=0">Booking.com</a>, direct hotel websites, or Airbnb depending on what you&#8217;re after. High season (July-August, December-January) sees prices spike, so book early if your dates are fixed.</p>

<p>The wet season means pools become essential rather than optional. Morning activities and day trips work better than afternoons when the rain tends to hit. Traffic is worse during peak times, so build in buffer time for airport transfers.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why We Love Legian</h2>

<p>Legian gives you options, which is what makes it work. You can drop serious money at Padma Resort for that full beachfront luxury experience, or you can grab a villa like Big Garden for space and privacy without the resort price tag. Budget travellers aren&#8217;t stuck with rubbish options either as places like Kumala Pantai and the various mid-range hotels deliver clean, comfortable accommodation without the frills.</p>

<p>The mix of beach access, affordability, cultural touches, and proximity to the rest of South Bali makes Legian so versatile. It&#8217;s not going to be everyone&#8217;s cup of tea but, if you need absolute quiet and no vendors, look elsewhere. For most people who want a balanced Bali experience without having to choose between budget and location, it works.</p>

<p>Looking for an island that&#8217;s more laid back than Bali but just as beautiful? Then Lombok might be your perfect destination. Just a couple of hours away from Bali, Lombok has soft white sandy beaches, lush rice fields, breath taking waterfalls and a lot less traffic! </p>

<p>Whether you’re a surfer, a hiker, or simply in need of some slow island life, here’s our guide to the very best things to do in Lombok.</p>

<div class="gb-container gb-container-50fae524">
<div class="gb-container gb-container-94103425">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay In Lombok </h3>

<p class="has-text-align-center">Affordable Luxury &#8211; <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/holiday-resort-lombok.en-gb.html">Holiday Resort Lombok</a></strong>, Senggigi</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chase Waterfalls</h2>

<p>Everyone we spoke to in Lombok asked whether we had been to see a waterfall yet. The locals are incredibly proud of them—and it’s easy to see why. Not only are Lombok’s waterfalls far less crowded than those in Bali, but they’re also breathtakingly beautiful, set amid rugged, untouched landscapes.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-212d8f9e"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-212d8f9e" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Benang-Kelambu-Waterfall-Lombok-Stokel-.jpg" alt="Two Waterfalls In Lombok Kelambu and Stokel" title="Benang Kelambu Waterfall Lombok Stokel" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Benang-Kelambu-Waterfall-Lombok-Stokel-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Benang-Kelambu-Waterfall-Lombok-Stokel--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Benang-Kelambu-Waterfall-Lombok-Stokel--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>There’s truly no other waterfall in Lombok—or neighbouring Bali—quite like <strong>Benang Kelambu</strong>. Tucked away in central Lombok’s rainforest, this enchanting spot features delicate streams of water spilling gently over layers of ferns, creating a soft, curtain-like effect (“kelambu” means <em>mosquito net</em> in Indonesian). You can swim in the pools at the base, but note that swimsuits aren’t allowed, so bring something to cover up that you don’t mind getting wet.</p>

<p>The trek to Kelambu passes three other waterfalls—Stokel, Sesere, and Kilwun—and hiring a local guide is a great way to ensure you don’t miss any along the way.</p>

<p>Many more waterfalls are hidden in the foothills of Mount Rinjani and deep within the jungle, but don’t worry—the local drivers know exactly where to go and are always happy to show you “just one more.”</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Snorkel With Turtles At Nipah Beach</h2>

<p><strong>Nipah Beach</strong> is a quiet crescent of golden sand on the north-west coast of Lombok. It’s lined with beachside stalls serving freshly grilled seafood, with tables and chairs scattered right on the sand, and even a few swings (which my youngest daughter loved). The beach has a wonderfully authentic feel and is definitely not over-commercialised.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-04463662"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-04463662" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-.jpg" alt="Nipah Beach Lombok Beautiful Quiet Beach With Warungs And Turtles " title="Nipah Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>You can throw your towel down anywhere along the shore—there’s plenty of space—or grab a drink and something to eat at one of the local warungs. The sea is calm and shallow, making it a great spot for swimming or for kids to paddle. The highlight, though, is that you don’t have to swim far to spot turtles feeding around the reef to the left of the bay.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Surf </h2>

<p>I had my very first surf lesson in Lombok on <strong>Senggigi Beach</strong> and quickly established that I am <em>not</em> a natural surfer. My daughters, however, loved it—and loved watching me fall off even more. There are plenty of options for surfers of all levels in Lombok, from beginners (like me) to seasoned pros. <strong>Tanjung Aan</strong>, a beach near Kuta in the south, offers waves suitable for all abilities and is set in a stunning bay with a beautiful stretch of golden sand.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-634ccf0b"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-634ccf0b" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Surfing-In-Lombok.jpg" alt="One To One Surf Lessons In Lombok " title="Surfing In Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Surfing-In-Lombok.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Surfing-In-Lombok-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Surfing-In-Lombok-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>For beginners, head to <strong>Selong Belanak</strong>, which has mellow beach breaks and a soft sandy bottom. <strong>Mawi</strong> is ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers, known for its consistent dry-season swells, while the experts make their way to <strong>Desert Point</strong>, famous for its challenging, world-class waves and long rides.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hike Up Mount Rinjani </h2>

<p>Climbing <strong>Mount Rinjani</strong>, Indonesia’s second-highest volcano, is not for the faint-hearted. Most hikers tackle Rinjani over two or three days, starting from <strong>Sembalun</strong> or <strong>Senaru</strong>. Expect steep climbs, slippery volcanic sand, and long, punishing days of 10–12 hours on the trail. If you hire a local guide (highly recommended), they’ll carry supplies, cook hearty meals, and share invaluable knowledge of the mountain.</p>

<p>However, watching the sunrise over Rinjani’s turquoise crater lake and steaming hot springs is pure magic. It’s absolutely worth the climb—just make sure you’re fully prepared with sturdy boots, warm layers, and plenty of determination.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Visit A Sasak Village</h2>

<p>A visit to a traditional <strong>Sasak village</strong> is a must if you want to learn more about the history and culture of Lombok. The indigenous Sasak people make up the majority of the island’s population, and exploring villages like <strong>Sade</strong> or <strong>Dusun Sasak</strong> offers a fascinating glimpse into their way of life.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-869218b5"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-869218b5" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sasak-Village-.jpg" alt="Sasak Village In Lombok " title="Sasak Village" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sasak-Village-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sasak-Village--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sasak-Village--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>You can wander through thatched-roof bamboo homes, watch women hand-weave colourful textiles, and learn about customs such as communal living and natural herbal remedies. Most tours are donation-based (around £5) and can easily be combined with nearby beach visits for a half-day trip. The guides are friendly and full of local stories, often sharing a cup of home-grown coffee or traditional snacks along the way.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Meet The Monkeys</h2>

<p>The hillsides of <strong>Lombok</strong> are the perfect place for monkey spotting. We took a trip from <strong>Senggigi</strong> along <strong>Pusuk Pass</strong> (affectionately known as <em>Monkey Hill</em>). The scenery was gorgeous as we wound our way up into the hills, and my daughters loved spotting monkeys along the route. We made a short stop at a café where we bought some nuts to feed the monkeys while enjoying a refreshing drink.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-c32c24ee"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-c32c24ee" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Feeding-Monkeys-Lombok-.jpg" alt="Feeding The Monkeys At Pusuk Pass Lombok " title="Feeding Monkeys Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Feeding-Monkeys-Lombok-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Feeding-Monkeys-Lombok--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Feeding-Monkeys-Lombok--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We were practically the only people there, and the staff kindly helped us feed the monkeys—which my youngest daughter absolutely loved. Just be sure to keep a tight hold of your phone and sunglasses; they’re not as cheeky as the monkeys in Bali’s Monkey Forest, but it’s best not to take the risk.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hop On A Boat To The Gili Islands</h2>

<p>From <strong>Senggigi</strong>, the most famous <strong>Gili Islands</strong> are only a quick 15-minute speedboat trip away, making them an ideal day trip. Our favourite was <strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/things-to-do-in-gili-air/">Gili Air</a></strong>, which has plenty of restaurants and cafés to stop at, beautiful white-sand beaches, and the chance to snorkel with turtles just a few hundred metres from shore.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-9173f717"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-9173f717" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gili-Air-.jpg" alt="Beach Bar On Gili Air" title="Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gili-Air-.jpg 1200w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gili-Air--300x150.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gili-Air--1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Gili-Air--768x384.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></figure>

<p>There are no cars on the Gili Islands, but they’re small enough to walk around the coastal path in about an hour to an hour and a half. If you prefer, you can hire a bike for around IDR 50K (just over £2) for the whole day. We loved hopping on and off our bikes to explore different parts of the island.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-d44155a8"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-d44155a8" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Gili-Air-Beach-1.jpg" alt="Beautiful White Sandy Beach On Gili Air" title="Gili Air Beach (1)" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Gili-Air-Beach-1.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Gili-Air-Beach-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Gili-Air-Beach-1-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The three main Gilis—<strong>Gili Trawangan</strong>, <strong>Gili Air</strong>, and <strong>Gili Meno</strong>—aren’t the only ones. In Indonesian, <em>gili</em> simply means “small island,” so you’ll find many more scattered along the coast, such as <strong>Gili Asahan</strong> or <strong>Gili Gede</strong> off the southwest shore. The infrastructure on these lesser-known islands is more limited, so be sure to take cash and prepare to enjoy their raw natural beauty.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why We Love Lombok</h2>

<p>We love Lombok because it feels like discovering Bali before the crowds arrived. The island has a calm, unhurried charm—untouched beaches, volcanic peaks, and the people are so friendly. It’s authentic, peaceful, and naturally beautiful—everything we love about island life without the rush.</p>

<p>Imagine waking up in Lombok, the sleepy cousin to Bali, with Mount Rinjani&#8217;s imposing silhouette framed perfectly in your window, and turquoise waters that seem almost too blue to be real. And the best bit? You&#8217;ll share these magical moments with a fraction of the tourists you&#8217;d find in Bali.</p>

<p>We last visited in 2025, a time that feels like Lombok has properly come into its own. There&#8217;s been this brilliant surge in eco-friendly stays – bamboo bungalows with solar panels and luxury villas with zero-waste policies &#8211; and today we&#8217;re taking a look at where to stay in Lombok&#8230; from those amazing villas to budget friendly resorts.</p>

<div class="gb-container gb-container-50fae524">
<div class="gb-container gb-container-94103425">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay In Lombok </h3>

<p class="has-text-align-center">Affordable Luxury &#8211; <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/holiday-resort-lombok.en-gb.html">Holiday Resort Lombok</a></strong>, Senggigi</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center">Total Luxury &#8211; <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/the-lombok-lodge-private-pool-villas.en-gb.html">Lombok Private Villa Estate</a></strong>, Gondang</p>

</div>
</div>

<p>After our recent visit and endless conversations with both locals and travellers, we&#8217;ve pulled together this Lombok accommodation guide to help you find your perfect base. </p>

<p>Here we explore the island&#8217;s different areas, highlight some hidden gems, and share practical tips that&#8217;ll make your holiday run smoothly. Fancy waking up to mosque calls before taking a scooter to hidden beaches? </p>

<p>Or perhaps you&#8217;d prefer sipping cocktails by your private pool as the sun sets? Either way, we&#8217;ve got you covered.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Lombok Should Be Your Next Island Escape</h2>

<p>I love Bali, but Lombok is just as beautiful. The landscapes are stunning, but prices are noticeably gentler on your wallet. Expect to pay between £8-£240 per night for accommodation, which is really good value compared to similar standards across the water.</p>

<p>We spent a week exploring the island – and experienced empty roads, friendly waves from locals, and an authentic, untouched vibe that&#8217;s increasingly rare in Southeast Asia.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-1c17208d"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-1c17208d" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Coastal-View-.jpg" alt="View From The Coastal Road Near Senggigi In Lombok" title="Lombok Coastal View" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Coastal-View-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Coastal-View--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Coastal-View--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>For families, the island feels safer and more manageable than Bali. The roads have improved dramatically (though still expect the odd pothole), and most resorts now have decent Wi-Fi – a godsend when the kids need entertaining or you need to check in with home.</p>

<p>One of the biggest changes in 2025 is how many properties have embraced sustainability. Solar power is becoming standard, plastic bottles are increasingly rare, and many resorts now grow their own organic produce. </p>

<p>Whether you&#8217;re seeking adventure (the surfing is great), relaxation (beachside massages for £5!), or cultural immersion, Lombok delivers. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Best Areas to Stay in Lombok</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Senggigi (Northwest Coast)</h3>

<p>If it&#8217;s your first time in Lombok, Senggigi makes an ideal base. This stretch along the northwest coast offers perfect sunsets that seem to set the entire sky on fire. We spent five nights here at the beginning of our last trip and loved it. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-93cbf3fb"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-93cbf3fb" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-1.jpg" alt="Sunset From Holiday Resort Lombok " title="Lombok Sunset (1)" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-1.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-1-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The beachfront resorts range from budget-friendly to luxurious, and you&#8217;re only a 20-minute boat ride from the Gili Islands (<strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/things-to-do-in-gili-air/">see our guide to Gili Air here</a></strong>). Restaurants serve everything from Indonesian classics to amazing Italian dishes – don&#8217;t miss the seafood at Nuf Said right on Sengiggi beach, with a laid back feel and live music.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-973123b2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-973123b2" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nuf-Said-Lombok-.jpg" alt="Nuf Said Beach Front Warung In Senggigi Lombok " title="Nuf Said Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nuf-Said-Lombok-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nuf-Said-Lombok--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nuf-Said-Lombok--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>One afternoon, we hired a driver and explored the local area. We drove along the coast stopping to admire the impressive views towards the Gili Islands, had lunch on Nipah beach after snorkelling with the turtles and then headed into the mountains to along Puncak Pusuk pass to see the monkeys and admire the jungle scenery. Finally we visited nearby Pura Batu Bolong temple which is perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop, it&#8217;s stunning at sunset, with far fewer tourists than you&#8217;d find at similar spots in Bali. Just remember to bring a sarong to cover your legs – I had to buy one at the entrance when I forgot mine.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-1e3c07ea"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-1e3c07ea" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-Lombok.jpg" alt="Quiet Peaceful Nipah Beach Near Senggigi Lombok" title="Nipah Beach Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-Lombok.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-Lombok-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nipah-Beach-Lombok-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Families tend to love Senggigi for its pools and spas, while couples appreciate the romantic beachfront dining options. The nightlife is quieter than Bali&#8217;s hotspots, but that&#8217;s the point of choosing Lombok. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Kuta Lombok (South Coast)</h3>

<p>Don&#8217;t confuse this with Kuta Bali – they&#8217;re worlds apart in atmosphere. Kuta Lombok is a surfer&#8217;s dream with a laid-back, slightly bohemian feel that reminds me of what Canggu was like a decade ago.</p>

<p>The beaches here are properly stunning – think powdery white sand and crystal clear water. Tanjung Aan is my favourite, a crescent-shaped bay with gentle waves on one side and more challenging surf on the other. Perfect if your group includes both swimmers and surfers.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-879a4dd7"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-879a4dd7" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Kuta-Lombok-.jpg" alt="Kuta in Lombok Beautiful Beach" title="Kuta Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Kuta-Lombok-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Kuta-Lombok--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Kuta-Lombok--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The food scene here is amazing. You can still find simple warungs serving Ayam Taliwang (Lombok&#8217;s famous spicy grilled chicken) for a few pounds, but there&#8217;s also an increasing number of trendy cafés offering avocado toast and smoothie bowls. El Bazar does fabulous Middle Eastern food – their hummus is worth the trip alone.</p>

<p>The downsides? Some of the roads remain unpaved and dusty, especially after the dry season. And yes, the mosque calls are more prominent here – something to consider if you&#8217;re a light sleeper. Personally, I quickly got used to them and started to enjoy the ritual. </p>

<p>If you are staying in the Kuta area then a trip to Pink Beach – named for its blush-coloured sand created by crushed red coral mixing with white sand is a must. The drive was bumpy but absolutely worth it for the untouched beauty and excellent snorkelling.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">North Lombok/Senaru</h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re after cooler temperatures and stunning natural scenery, head north. This area sits in the shadow of Mount Rinjani and offers a completely different Lombok experience.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-df012191"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-df012191" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Mount-Rinjani-Lombok.jpg" alt="Mount Rinjani " title="Mount Rinjani Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Mount-Rinjani-Lombok.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Mount-Rinjani-Lombok-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Mount-Rinjani-Lombok-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Waking up to a view over terraced rice fields with a cup of local coffee is the perfect way to start your day. The climate here is noticeably fresher and we found it a great break from the heat.</p>

<p>The area&#8217;s main draw is Rinjani itself. While the full summit trek is a serious undertaking (2-3 days and not for the faint-hearted), there are gentler options. The trek to Tiu Kelep waterfall nearly broke me with its 300+ steps, but standing under that powerful cascade made it worth it.</p>

<p>The downsides? You&#8217;re far from the beaches here, and the accommodation options are more limited. But what they lack in luxury, they make up for in character and breathtaking scenery.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Gili Islands (Off Northwest Coast)</h3>

<p>Technically separate from Lombok but easily accessible, the three Gili Islands offer distinct vibes:</p>

<p>Gili Trawangan (or Gili T) is the party island – think beach bars, fire shows, and music into the early hours. </p>

<p><strong>Gili Air</strong> strikes the perfect balance. There&#8217;s enough <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/best-restaurants-gili-air/">restaurants</a> and bars to keep things interesting, but with quiet corners where you can escape it all. The snorkelling directly off the beach is brilliant – you can swim with turtles every day. Gili Air also has some of the nicest <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/where-to-stay-in-gili-air/">places to stay</a>.</p>

<p>Gili Meno is the quietest of the three, perfect for honeymooners or those seeking serious peace and quiet.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-23e1f863"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-23e1f863" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air-.jpg" alt="View From Gili Air Cafe with Bike And Indonesian Flag" title="Bike On Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>What makes the Gilis special is their no-car policy, transport is by bicycle or horse-drawn cart only. There&#8217;s something magical about the absence of motor noise, replaced instead by the jingle of horse bells and the sound of waves&#8230; just watch out for those e-bikes!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Places to Stay in Lombok: My Personal Picks</h2>

<p>Based on my own stays and conversations with other travellers, here are nine different places we think you should consider:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Senggigi and Mangsit (West Lombok) </h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Holiday Resort Lombok (Senggigi, £40-80/night)</h3>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/holiday-resort-lombok.en-gb.html">Holiday Resort Lombok</a></strong> place has mastered the art of affordable luxury. Set in lush tropical gardens with a massive pool and direct beach access, it&#8217;s brilliant for families. The kids absolutely loved it here as they had multiple pools to play in and the beach was just a few steps away.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-28a3678c"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-28a3678c" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Pool-.jpg" alt="Gorgeous Tropical Setting Of Holiday Resort Lombok Pool" title="Holiday Resort Lombok Pool" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Pool-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Pool--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Pool--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The rooms are spacious if slightly dated in some blocks, but the beachfront location more than makes up for it. Watching the sunset on a bean bag, cocktail in hand, while the kids jumped the waves is one of my favourite Lombok memories.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-af9b74c8"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-af9b74c8" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-View-.jpg" alt="Kids In The Sea At Holiday Resort Lombok " title="Lombok Sunset View" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-View-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-View--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Sunset-View--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We stayed in the Mangsit suites which are located on the other side of the road from the main hotel but this was actually a bonus as it meant we had a lovely peaceful spot and a balcony that caught the morning sun. They have someone there to help you across the road at all times, however the road was never that busy.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-37849e31"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-37849e31" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Morning-View-.jpg" alt="View From Mangsit Suites Balcony At Holiday Resort Lombok" title="Holiday Resort Lombok Morning View" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Morning-View-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Morning-View--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Holiday-Resort-Lombok-Morning-View--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We took surf lessons directly in front of the hotel and had one to one tuition for the price of a group lesson in Bali. The staff were all so helpful and even took my daughter for a ride on a buggy when she realised she had left something in our room at the end of our stay. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Qunci Villas Resort (Senggigi/Mangsit, £120-200/night)</h3>

<p>If boutique luxury is more your style, <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/qunci-villas-hotel.en-gb.html">Qunci Villas</a></strong> is properly special. The beachfront setting is stunning, and the design manages to feel both sophisticated and also fit in with the natural surroundings.</p>

<p>I treated myself to their spa while we were there – having a massage while listening to the waves is pretty much my definition of heaven. Not all villas have private pools, so do check when booking if that&#8217;s important to you.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-47402295"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-47402295" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Quinci-Villas-Lombok-Senggigi.jpg" alt="View From Qunci Villas Lombok" title="Qunci Villas Lombok Senggigi" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Quinci-Villas-Lombok-Senggigi.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Quinci-Villas-Lombok-Senggigi-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Quinci-Villas-Lombok-Senggigi-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>One afternoon, we borrowed bikes from the resort and explored the nearby fishing villages. Returning hot and slightly sunburnt, we found the staff had prepared a cool towel and fresh coconut water for us. It&#8217;s those little touches that turn a good stay to a great one.</p>

<p>The food here is amazing, particularly their Lombok curry with freshly caught fish, it was so good I ordered it two nights running. Not very adventurous but it was just so good.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort (Senggigi, £80-160/night)</h3>

<p>If you prefer the reliability of an international brand with a distinctly local feel, the <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/sheraton-senggigi-beach-resort.en-gb.html">Sheraton</a></strong> hits the sweet spot. Their private beach is one of Senggigi&#8217;s best, and the swim-up bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and cool down from in the afternoon.</p>

<p>The cooking class they offer is worth booking – you learn to make proper gado-gado a traditional Indonesian salad that I love! </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-875b545f"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-875b545f" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sheraton-Senggigi-Lombok-.jpg" alt="Sheraton Senggigi Private Beach " title="Sheraton Senggigi Lombok" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sheraton-Senggigi-Lombok-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sheraton-Senggigi-Lombok--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Sheraton-Senggigi-Lombok--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Jeeva Klui Resort (Senggigi, £120-200/night)</h3>

<p><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/jeeva-klui.en-gb.html">Jeeva Klui</a></strong> is a boutique eco-resort which has a perfect balance of luxury and sustainability. The beachfront location is stunning, and their yoga deck overlooking the ocean could easily become my morning ritual.</p>

<p>The property isn&#8217;t huge, which creates an intimate atmosphere where staff quickly learn your names and give your stay that personal touch. It&#8217;s quieter than some Senggigi options, with a focus on relaxation rather than activities. Perfect for recharging after Bali or as part of a multi-destination Indonesian trip.</p>

<p>The resort will arrange a private boat trip to the Gilis, which is pricier than the public ferry but worth every penny for the comfort and convenience and their spa is the perfect end to the day before getting ready for dinner. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kuta (South Lombok) </h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Novotel Lombok Resort &amp; Villas (Kuta/Pujut, £65-120/night)</h3>

<p>For surfers or those wanting to explore southern Lombok, <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/novotellombok.en-gb.html">Novotel Lombok Resort</a></strong> offers excellent value. Their infinity pool overlooks Kuta Beach, and the spa does brilliant post-surf massages (trust me, you&#8217;ll need one if you&#8217;re a beginner like me).</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-a947bea4"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-a947bea4" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Novotel-Lombok-Resort-and-Villas-.jpg" alt="Pool at Novotel Resort Lombok " title="Novotel Lombok Resort and Villas" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Novotel-Lombok-Resort-and-Villas-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Novotel-Lombok-Resort-and-Villas--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Novotel-Lombok-Resort-and-Villas--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We stayed in one of their pool villas, which felt wonderfully secluded despite being part of a larger resort. My room attendant, Ferdika, went above and beyond – leaving little notes with the weather forecast and surf conditions each morning.</p>

<p>The resort is a bit removed from Kuta&#8217;s centre, which means blissful quiet but does require transport for exploring the town. They offer a free shuttle, though, so it&#8217;s not a problem.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pullman Lombok Merujani Mandalika (Kuta, £80-160/night)</h3>

<p>One of the newer additions to Lombok&#8217;s luxury scene, the <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/pullman-lombok-mandalika-beach-resort.en-gb.html">Pullman</a></strong> brings international standards to the developing Mandalika area. The design is sleek and contemporary – a contrast to the more traditional styles found elsewhere on the island.</p>

<p>Their extensive breakfast buffet, which catered brilliantly to both Western and Asian preferences is a definite highlight. After a week of local food (however delicious), sometimes you just fancy a proper slice of toast with butter.</p>

<p>Do be aware there&#8217;s still some construction in the Mandalika area as it develops into a major tourism hub. The resort itself is complete and functioning beautifully, but you might encounter some noise during daytime hours.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Selong Selo Resort and Residences (South Lombok, £160-320/night)</h3>

<p>Perched on a hillside with panoramic views of Selong Belanak Beach, <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/selong-selo-residences.en-gb.html">Selong Selo</a></strong>&#8216;s luxury villas offer privacy and scenery in equal measure. Each comes with its own infinity pool that seems to merge with the ocean beyond – Instagram gold!</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-ae913cda"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-ae913cda" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Selong-Selo-Resort-Lombok-picture-.jpg" alt="Selong Selo Resort Pool View " title="Selong Selo Resort Lombok picture" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Selong-Selo-Resort-Lombok-picture-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Selong-Selo-Resort-Lombok-picture--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Selong-Selo-Resort-Lombok-picture--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The villas are immaculately designed, blending indoor and outdoor living. You can spend your evenings on the terrace, watching fishing boats return to shore as the sun set behind the hills.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s fairly isolated, which is either a pro or con depending on what you&#8217;re after. For me, I always love a quiet and tranquil spot. They offer a shuttle service to the beach, and the on-site restaurant is great so you don&#8217;t feel the need to venture out much anyway.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">North Lombok</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Oberoi Beach Resort (Medana Bay/North, £160-240/night)</h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re celebrating something special or just fancy a proper splurge, <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/the-oberoi-lombok.en-gb.html">The Oberoi</a></strong> is breathtaking. Their private beach fronting Medana Bay offers views of the Gili Islands that made my jaw literally drop when I first arrived.</p>

<p>The pavilion-style suites are enormous and beautifully designed with local materials. I loved the evening cultural performances – traditional music and dance that made me feel connected to Lombok&#8217;s heritage.</p>

<p>Yes, it&#8217;s expensive by Lombok standards, but the exclusivity and attention to detail justify the price tag. When I mentioned in passing that I loved mangosteen, a bowl appeared in my room each day – that level of personalized service is rare even in luxury properties.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lombok Private Villa Estate (Gondang, £240+/night)</h3>

<p>For the ultimate splurge, this exclusive coastal estate offers next-level luxury. I haven&#8217;t actually stayed at <strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/the-lombok-lodge-private-pool-villas.en-gb.html">Lombok Private Villa Estate</a></strong> myself (dreams for the next milestone birthday, perhaps), but I toured the property while researching this article and was properly blown away.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-0c64a802"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-0c64a802" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Private-Villa-Estate-.jpg" alt="Super Modern and Sleek Lombok Private Villa Estate Pool View" title="Lombok Private Villa Estate" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Private-Villa-Estate-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Private-Villa-Estate--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Lombok-Private-Villa-Estate--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>With a private chef and butler service, it&#8217;s the kind of place where your every need is anticipated before you realize you have it. The design seamlessly blends traditional Indonesian elements with modern luxury, and the clifftop location offers spectacular coastal views.</p>

<p>This is celebrity-level accommodation, with a price tag to match. But for a special celebration or if budget isn&#8217;t a concern, it offers an unparalleled Lombok experience.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Practical Tips for Your Lombok Stay</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Getting Around</h3>

<p>Renting a scooter gives you the most freedom (around £4-5 per day), but do make sure you&#8217;re confident riding one – Lombok&#8217;s roads can be challenging. For longer journeys or if scooters aren&#8217;t your thing, hiring a driver is surprisingly affordable (£20-30 for a full day).</p>

<p>The rainy season (November-March) can make travel more difficult, with occasional flooding on rural roads. I learned this the hard way when what should have been a 30-minute journey took nearly two hours after a particularly heavy downpour.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Money Matters</h3>

<p>Budget around £40-80 per day including accommodation if you&#8217;re watching pennies. Eating local will save you loads – a plate of nasi goreng (fried rice) or mie goreng (fried noodles) rarely costs more than £2-3 in a warung.</p>

<p>ATMs are available in major areas, but don&#8217;t count on them working reliably. I carry a mix of cards and cash, and always have a backup stash in case of emergencies. We found the ATM on Gili Air regularly runs out of cash but most places do take card. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Cultural Considerations</h3>

<p>The call to prayer from local mosques is part of daily life in Lombok. It&#8217;s beautiful once you adjust to it, but light sleepers might want earplugs for the early morning call.</p>

<p>Dress modestly away from beach areas – shoulders covered and no short shorts, especially when visiting villages or markets. I always carry a light scarf in my bag that can double as a shoulder cover when needed.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Packing Essentials</h3>

<p>A portable charger is non-negotiable, even with improved infrastructure, power outages do happen. Reef-safe sunscreen is essential if you&#8217;re planning to snorkel (and you should!), and strong mosquito repellent will be your best friend, especially during the rainy season.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final Thoughts</h2>

<p>Lombok offers a slice of paradise without the crowds that have changed parts of Bali forever. From beachfront luxury to jungle hideaways, there are plenty of options whatever your budget. </p>

<p>My perfect Lombok trip? I&#8217;d start with three nights in Senggigi to ease in, move south to Kuta for some beach-hopping and perhaps a surf lesson, spend a night or two in the north to trek waterfalls, then finish with a few days of pure bliss on Gili Air.</p>

<p>Whatever you choose, book ahead for the best deals – Lombok&#8217;s popularity is growing with each passing year, and those hidden gems won&#8217;t stay hidden forever. This magical island is worth discovering before everyone else does.</p>

<p><strong><em>God, I still cringe when I think about my disastrous attempt to &#8220;do&#8221; Europe five years ago. Five cities, seven days, and about a thousand rushed photos later, I crawled back to London feeling like I needed another holiday just to recover. My feet were blistered, my bank account was gasping, and worst of all I barely remembered half the places I&#8217;d visited.</em></strong></p>

<p>Slow travel is the total opposite of this. For me and so many other travellers, it&#8217;s put a stop to the idea of rushing around the world, hitting landmarks like a checklist and returning with blurred memories. Why are we so keen to see multiple places so quickly? Everything about today&#8217;s world is fast. Why is travel getting caught up in it all as well?</p>

<p>To really &#8216;see&#8217; the world, we have to slow down. Here&#8217;s how to do it, and affordably.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is Slow Travel, Really?</h2>

<p>Before you get bored at the thought or even sound of slow travel, we&#8217;re not talking snail&#8217;s pace. We&#8217;re talking a minimum if a week to really get to know a place beyond all the selfie sticks. Ideally, a few weeks. For some, it&#8217;s months &#8211; though of course, it depends on where you are and what the location can offer.</p>

<p>Somewhere like Paris, for example. It wouldn&#8217;t take months to really get a true feel of your surroundings. But many rush from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre to Notre Dame in a single exhausting day. They don&#8217;t even consider discovering where there favourite local boulangerie is, or the friendships that could be made.</p>

<p>Slow travel is ultimately the difference between saying &#8216;I&#8217;ve been there&#8217; with a tickbox day, and living like a local would. </p>

<p>Take my experience of Lisbon as an example. Rather than rush through a typical itinerary and all the tourist traps, I stayed in a tiny apartment in the Alfama district for three weeks. By the fifth day, the owner of the little shop on the corner greeted me by name and would give me pointers. Then by week two, an elderly Portugese neighbour invited me to hers, and she taught me her secret bacalhau recipe which even now is a staple at home and always brings back fond memories.</p>

<p>In fact, there are a few core principles slow travel is built upon:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Cultural immersion &#8211; actually meeting the locals</li>

<li>Sustainability &#8211; supporting small businesses</li>

<li>Savouring unique moments</li>
</ul>

<p>These are things you won&#8217;t get in the common guidebook that drags you into all the crowded, expensive &#8216;attractions&#8217; that are becoming a far cry from the real beauty of a location.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="700" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Alfama-District-Lisbon.jpg" alt="Alfama District Lisbon" class="wp-image-6483" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Alfama-District-Lisbon.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Alfama-District-Lisbon-300x233.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Alfama-District-Lisbon-768x597.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><em>Alfama District Lisbon</em>. </div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Is Everyone Suddenly Into Slow Travel?</h2>

<p>Slow travel isn&#8217;t actually new. People have been doing it for ages. But recently, the crave for it is building more so.</p>

<p>This is because quite frankly we&#8217;re all a little sick of overtourism. I&#8217;d say social media has a lot to do with the overexposure of what once were treasured landmarks that were genuinely appreciated parts of the world. The times I&#8217;ve seen influencers rock up, take a photo, and stare at their phones to get it posted. They were there &#8211; tickbox complete, content posted. I bet many of them walk away with little to cherish.</p>

<p>For the rest of us, we turn up to these locations and it&#8217;s absolutely swarmed, with selfie sticks, a stressed atmosphere, and even scammers cashing in on the hoards of victims.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s also the sustainability aspect. I started thinking hard about my carbon footprint after reading that a single long-haul flight produces more CO2 than some people generate in a year in certain countries. That hit me hard. Slow travel means fewer flights and more support for local businesses rather than international chains – something that feels increasingly important as we watch our planet struggle.</p>

<p>The remote work boom has played a massive part too. So many of us can take our work with us these days, so spending lengthier times away while maintaining a professional life is very possible. Plus, productivity rockets when you&#8217;re somewhere inspiring as opposed to the kitchen table back home.</p>

<p>Of course, there&#8217;s mental health involved. How has everything become so fast and pressured? Feeling burned out after what should be a break is crazy. Slow travel however offers a genuine chance to reset. Spending two weeks in a little Finnish lakeside cabin was like a brain transplant for me, courtesy of the complete absence of tourist &#8220;must-dos&#8221; hanging over my head – it was heaven.</p>

<p>Fear of missing out becomes the joy of missing out, and finding something better.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Start Slow Travelling (Without Quitting Your Job)</h2>

<p>Is this slow travelling impossible in reality for you? Absolutely not. Here&#8217;s how you can ease into slow travel without drastic life changes.</p>

<p>First, start with a destination that gives you a lot for your money. Places like Chiang Mai in Thailand, certain parts of Portugal, or smaller towns in Eastern Europe offer lower living costs, making it easier to stay longer. My month in Budapest cost about the same as 10 days would have in Paris.</p>

<p>Aim for at least a week, but ideally more. Two weeks is when the benefits of slow travel really come to life – you get past the tourist mindset and begin falling into local rhythms. I use Airbnb for longer stays and always message hosts to negotiate monthly rates, which are almost always discounted.</p>

<p>Shop where locals shop! Find the markets, the family-run cafés, and the places without English menus. This is where you&#8217;ll discover a real taste for where you are, and learn more too. These places also help you budget better, because they&#8217;re not charging the crazy tourist prices. (You can also make your money last longer by cooking some meals at home.)</p>

<p>Join something local – a cooking class, language exchange, or community event. When I was in Mexico I attended a free weekly salsa class in the town square. I was utterly rubbish, but I met amazing people and laughed more than I had in months.</p>

<p>And remember: don&#8217;t be put off by language barriers. You&#8217;ll be ok, and you&#8217;ll be surprised how well you get on with minimal shared language. Gestures, smiles, Google Translate, and a willingness to look a bit silly go a long way.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Slow Travel Really for You?</h2>

<p>Slow travel goes against checking off the &#8220;top 10 must-sees&#8221; and famous landmarks. Instead, you&#8217;ll be busy learning to make pasta with a local nonna or spending the afternoon chatting with shopkeepers in a tiny village.</p>

<p>What you get in exchange for missing out on landmark queues and crowds are real stories, genuine connections, and experiences that stay with you long after the holiday tan has faded.</p>

<p>My slow travel experiences haven&#8217;t all been perfect. I&#8217;ve had moments of loneliness, frustrating language mix-ups, and days where I questioned why I wasn&#8217;t just on a nice, easy package holiday. But even the challenging moments taught me something – about the place, about the culture, or about myself.</p>

<p>I promise you&#8217;ll come back with something far more valuable than a camera roll full of landmark photos. You&#8217;ll come back with stories, recipes, maybe even friendships – and a completely new way of seeing the world.</p>

<p>If there&#8217;s one thing that&#8217;s synonymous with Bali&#8230; it&#8217;s beach clubs. Also referred to as day clubs, it&#8217;s hard to navigate your way around the island without seeing advertisements for some of the huge beach clubs on the island &#8211; think Finns, Potato Head and El Kabron. </p>

<p>But there&#8217;s more to these day clubs than just those three heavyweights, and after spending a few months in Bali over the last few years and visiting my fair share of beach clubs (and day clubs) I think I&#8217;m pretty well placed to give my two cents worth on which are the best.</p>

<p>What the best beach club in Bali is for you will depend on what you want from it. If you have kids, you&#8217;ll have less choice, if you don&#8217;t, you&#8217;ll probably want to go somewhere that&#8217;s kids free (although not necessarily) &#8211; so in this article I&#8217;m going to try and cover all bases and maybe even throw in a couple of curve balls for you to consider.</p>

<div class="gb-container gb-container-50fae524">
<div class="gb-container gb-container-94103425">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay </h3>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/como-uma-canggu.en-gb.html">COMO Uma Canggu</a></strong> &#8211; A sleek beachfront hotel in Canggu offering calm, contemporary luxury within walking distance of Bali’s most famous beach clubs, including Finns and La Brisa.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/alila-seminyak.en-gb.html">Alila Seminyak</a></strong> &#8211; A refined beachfront retreat in Seminyak known for its elegant design, excellent dining, and relaxed sunset vibes close to Potato Head and Ku De Ta.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/six-senses-uluwatu.en-gb.html">Six Senses Uluwatu</a></strong> &#8211; A dramatic clifftop resort in Uluwatu combining ultra-luxury villas, world-class wellness, and sweeping ocean views near Bali’s most iconic cliff-side beach clubs.</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Canggu: Where Party Meets Boho Vibes</h2>

<p>Canggu has absolutely exploded in the last few years. Some people love it and others detest it &#8211; I&#8217;ve seen both sides and I&#8217;ve witnessed full on arguments over the matter. What can&#8217;t be argued though is what was once a sleepy surf spot has transformed into the epicentre of Bali&#8217;s beach club scene. </p>

<p>The black volcanic sand beaches and rice field backdrops create this perfect contrast that just screams &#8220;Instagram me!&#8221; &#8211; though honestly, you&#8217;ll probably be too busy enjoying yourself to bother with photos at these spots.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Finns Beach Club</h3>

<p>I have to say, there&#8217;s a reason Finns keeps getting voted the world&#8217;s best beach club. This place is MASSIVE. We&#8217;re talking 170 metres of beachfront, multiple pools, and enough bars and restaurants to keep you fed and watered for days. I rocked up there last June thinking I&#8217;d stay for a couple of hours and ended up spending the entire day, along with smashing through the minimum spend with no trouble.</p>

<p>The atmosphere shifts throughout the day. Mornings are pretty chilled, perfect for swimming and recovering from the night before (ahem), but by afternoon the DJs start cranking it up again. I caught a surprise Diplo set last summer that had the whole place absolutely heaving.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-2aba221c"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-2aba221c" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Finns-Beach-Club.jpg" alt="Sunset At Finns Beach Club " title="Finns Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Finns-Beach-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Finns-Beach-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Finns-Beach-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Here&#8217;s what you need to know: entry is free (yes, really), but if you want a daybed, you&#8217;ll need to commit to a minimum spend of around 2,500,000 IDR, which is redeemable on food and drinks. Get there before 1pm and you&#8217;ll score 50% off the beds – a proper bargain considering what you get. The food is surprisingly good – I&#8217;m still thinking about the tuna poke bowl I had.</p>

<p>Fair warning though – if you&#8217;re looking for a quiet, reflective day by the water, this isn&#8217;t it. Finns is for when you want to see and be seen, dance a bit, and embrace the party. It&#8217;s adults-only too, so leave the kids at home.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Atlas Beach Club</h3>

<p>When someone tells you they&#8217;re going to Asia&#8217;s largest beach club, this is what they&#8217;re talking about. Atlas is like Finns on steroids – bigger pool, massive waterfall feature, and a food market with enough options to satisfy even the pickiest eater in your group.</p>

<p>I made the mistake of trying to get there from Seminyak during peak hours and spent over an hour in traffic. Learn from my pain – either stay in Canggu or head out early.</p>

<p>The vibe here leans heavily toward festival atmosphere. If you love electronic music and don&#8217;t mind crowds, you&#8217;ll be in heaven. They pull in some serious DJ talent – I was there for Martin Garrix on New Year&#8217;s Eve and it was properly mental.</p>

<p>Entry will set you back about 200,000 IDR, and daybeds start at 3,500,000 IDR for minimum spend. The service can be painfully slow when it&#8217;s packed, so order your next drink before you finish your current one!</p>

<p>Unlike Finns, Atlas is family-friendly, which makes it a good option if you&#8217;ve got kids in tow. They seem to have created zones that cater to different vibes, so you can find your happy place whether that&#8217;s right in the middle of the action or something a bit more laid-back.</p>

<div class="gb-container gb-container-bd1fd5af">

<div class="wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex">
<div class="wp-block-button"><a class="wp-block-button__link has-background has-text-align-center has-custom-font-size wp-element-button" href="https://www.getyourguide.com/canggu-l85375/atlas-beach-club-bali-one-day-pass-fb-credit-voucher-t752703/?partner_id=WX2NIMC&amp;utm_medium=online_publisher" style="border-radius:3px;background-color:#273dbb;font-size:20px;font-style:normal;font-weight:700" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Check Best Offers For Atlas Beach Club Tickets</a></div>
</div>

</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">La Brisa</h3>

<p>After partying a bit too hard at Finns, I needed something more chilled the next day and La Brisa was exactly what the doctor ordered. This place has this gorgeous rustic-chic design built from reclaimed fishing boats and driftwood – it feels almost like you&#8217;ve stumbled into some bohemian dream.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-841e4dff"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-841e4dff" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Brisa-.jpg" alt="La Brisa Beach Club Canggu Pool With Sea View" title="La Brisa" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Brisa-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Brisa--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Brisa--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The curved pool offers incredible views of Echo Beach, and I spent a happy afternoon sprawled on a beanbag right on the sand with a Bali Sunset cocktail in hand. It&#8217;s much more relaxed than the mega-clubs, perfect for solo travellers (which I was at the time) or anyone looking to recover from the night before.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s no entry fee, just a minimum spend of about 250,000 IDR – which is easy to hit with their Spanish-inspired menu. I had their prawns that were absolutely to die for. And the sustainability focus makes you feel a tiny bit virtuous while you&#8217;re indulging.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Mari Beach Club</h3>

<p>If you&#8217;re after something a bit smaller but still with those gorgeous ocean views, Mari is worth checking out. It doesn&#8217;t get the same hype as the bigger places, but sometimes that&#8217;s exactly what you want.</p>

<p>The food and cocktails are properly good here – I had this mango daiquiri that was basically summer in a glass. The only downside is that service can be a bit hit-or-miss when they&#8217;re busy. But hey, you&#8217;re on island time, right?</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seminyak: For When You Want to Class It Up a Bit</h2>

<p>Seminyak has always been the more sophisticated older sibling to Canggu&#8217;s wild child. The golden sand beaches here attract a slightly older crowd looking for quality over chaos.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Potato Head Beach Club</h3>

<p>This place bills itself as a &#8220;creative village&#8221; rather than just a beach club, and honestly, that&#8217;s not far off. The architecture alone is worth the visit – a massive amphitheatre-like structure made from thousands of recycled windows and shutters.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="676" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Potatohead-Bali.jpg" alt="Potato Head Beach Club in Bali" class="wp-image-6817" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Potatohead-Bali.jpg 800w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Potatohead-Bali-300x254.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Potatohead-Bali-768x649.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>
</div>

<p>I spent a lovely day here last April, alternating between dips in the infinity pool and lounging on the grass with a book. The soundtrack is more chilled – think ambient beats rather than club bangers – and they often have interesting events like sustainability workshops and yoga sessions.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s no entry fee, but beds require a minimum spend of about 500,000 IDR. The food is a cut above – I had this amazing local fish dish that I&#8217;m still dreaming about. It&#8217;s ideal for families or couples wanting something more refined but still with that beach club energy.</p>

<p>It gets absolutely rammed around sunset though – I&#8217;d recommend securing your spot by mid-afternoon if you want the classic Potato Head sunset experience.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Alila Beach Club (Part of Hyatt Hotel)</h3>

<p>We took the short trip up to Seminyak from Legian recently to visit Alila Beach Club. It&#8217;s part of the Hyatt Hotel so you know the quality is going to be at a certain level before you arrive. We actually took a risk with our visit as we hadn&#8217;t pre-booked &#8211; that was a mistake but we got lucky as they accommodated us at dining area sofa before moving us to sunbeds when they became available about 45 minutes later.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-08541b18"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-08541b18" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Alila-Beach-Club.jpg" alt="Alila Beach Club Cocktails and Coconut " title="Alila Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Alila-Beach-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Alila-Beach-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Alila-Beach-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The vibe here is pretty low key, family friendly, but with an air of sophistication that one tends to associate with Seminyak. The whole area can be used by hotel guests, and although the hotel has another 2 pools, only the beachfront one is available for guests. No matter, as this is the one with sea and glorious sunset views and the pool area is gorgeous.</p>

<p>We spent 6 or 7 hours here before going out for dinner elsewhere &#8211; so we took full advantage of the private showers to transition from day to evening wear. This is a nice touch and even some of the fancier clubs like El Kabron don&#8217;t have showers (or at least not that I have ever been able to find). </p>

<p>Everything is luxury here. The food and drinks are exceptional, the towels are premium and in perfect condition and the loungers and day beds are divine. The location could hardly be better, right on Petitenget beach away from the crowds.</p>

<p>For kids or adults alike this is a great spot, and as the sun sets you&#8217;ll find live music and chilled vibes for dinner. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ku De Ta</h3>

<p>Ah, Ku De Ta – the OG of Bali beach clubs. This place has been around forever (in Bali terms, anyway) and still holds its own against the newcomers.</p>

<p>I popped in here for a sunset dinner on my last trip and was reminded why it&#8217;s still going strong. There&#8217;s something undeniably special about the atmosphere – sophisticated without being stuffy. The plunge pool offers gorgeous views, and the food is some of the best you&#8217;ll find at any beach club on the island.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-ca90633a"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-ca90633a" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ku-De-Ta-.jpg" alt="Ku De Ta Beach Club In Seminyak " title="Ku De Ta" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ku-De-Ta-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ku-De-Ta--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ku-De-Ta--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>It&#8217;s definitely more of a grown-up spot – perfect for couples or friends looking for quality time rather than party vibes. The music is kept at a level where you can actually have a conversation, imagine that!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ubud: For When You Want A Jungle Club</h2>

<p>Ubud is obviously not known for its beach clubs, but it does have a couple of Jungle clubs and I&#8217;ll feature one here that I absolutely love.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Jungle Club</h3>

<p>The Jungle Club is south of central Ubud and is one of my favourite day clubs in Bali. It is set unsurprisingly with jungle and river views and has a three tiered layout like you see in some of the other jungle based day clubs. </p>

<p>The day we visited was actually pretty overcast and although we managed to dodge the rain, the threat of it had clearly stopped lots of people visiting as it was pretty quiet. But I&#8217;ve seen the pics and spoken to the staff, and believe me this place picks up a decent vibe as day turns to night. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-b9a5bf1d"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-b9a5bf1d" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club.jpg" alt="The Jungle Club Near Ubud With Infinity Pools and Jungle Views " title="The Jungle Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>When it originally opened there was a no kids policy, but that&#8217;s now changed and kids are allowed &#8211; just as well as we visited as a family and we all gave it a big thumbs up. </p>

<p>We spent a good 6 hours here and started with lunch up on a higher deck in their restaurant area. The food here is very good and the cocktails are sublime. We then retreated to a day bed and also managed to spend some time in their ice cave which is usually reserved for larger group bookings.</p>

<p>The staff here are wonderful, the music is great and they have a large swing (which is a paid extra) so you can tick off a few of your Bali bucket list items in one visit here. The live DJ started at around 4pm and plays through to close.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a minimum spend of 250K per person here but they often have deals on so make sure you check their website before visiting and book ahead at busy times.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Uluwatu and Bukit Peninsula: Dramatic Cliffs and Exclusive Vibes</h2>

<p>If you want your beach club experience with a side of jaw-dropping scenery, head south to the Bukit Peninsula. The clubs here are perched on dramatic cliffs with views that will make your heart stop.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">El Kabron</h3>

<p>El Kabron might seem like a strange name for a club (check the translation) but this is without doubt one of the best beach clubs in Bali and is probably my out and out favourite in Uluwatu when looking for a more up-tempo but sophisticated vibe. It&#8217;s not cheap though, so be prepared.</p>

<p>Full disclosure, when I visited here the first (and second time) I visited with a friend who arranged us a day bed and a lower minimum spend &#8211; that being said, we spent through what would have been the 1.8M minimum spend without any issue.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-052ecbbc"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-052ecbbc" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron.jpg" alt="El Kabron Beach Club In Uluwatu Near Dreamland Beach At Sunset" title="El Kabron" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>El Kabron is sexy. It has attitude. And it has the people to match. Expect banging dance tunes every day of the week along with live musicians who play along to the tunes. The food here is good (although it is overpriced) and the drinks are extensive in choice. We really went all out the first time I visited with magnums of wine and a bottle of vodka with mixers. These were delivered with fireworks and dancing girls &#8211; if you&#8217;ve seen this before you know what I&#8217;m talking about.</p>

<p>El Kabron has a few different areas and there&#8217;s a strict no kids policy on all of them except for the restaurant. The Hedonism Lounge is essentially the pool area and I&#8217;d suggest grabbing a VIP day bed if you can, as these have incredible sunset views. If not, opt for any other area and enjoy the sunset from the infinity pool.</p>

<p>El Kabron is swish, it&#8217;s fancy and it lives up the hype. You might not want to go here every time you fancy a beach club and there&#8217;s not actually any access to the beach &#8211; but it has some of the best views, the best vibes and the best people.</p>

<p>Can you tell&#8230; I love it!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Savaya Bali</h3>

<p>Holy moly, this place. I still get goosebumps thinking about my day at Savaya. Perched on a cliff with a cube-shaped infinity pool that looks like it&#8217;s floating in mid-air, it&#8217;s no wonder this spot was ranked #1 in Asia by DJ Mag in 2025.</p>

<p>I splurged on a daybed here (we&#8217;re talking serious money – 12,000,000+ IDR minimum spend) for my birthday, and while my wallet is still recovering, my soul is still feeding off that day. The sunset was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I&#8217;ve ever seen, made even better by the incredible DJ set that perfectly matched the changing colours of the sky.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-21c6571c"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-21c6571c" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Savaya-Bali.jpg" alt="Savaya Bali Beach Club at Sunset" title="Savaya Bali" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Savaya-Bali.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Savaya-Bali-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Savaya-Bali-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Entry is about 500,000 IDR, which is redeemable for food and drinks. They&#8217;re only open Wednesday to Sunday, and you absolutely need to book ahead – this isn&#8217;t a place you can just rock up to.</p>

<p>The crowd tends to be a bit glitzier here – I spotted more than a few designer swimsuits and luxury watches. But despite the exclusivity, the vibe was surprisingly unpretentious once everyone was dancing.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sundays Beach Club</h3>

<p>For a completely different but equally magical experience, Sundays Beach Club offers one of the few toes-in-the-sand experiences in this area. You access the private beach via a funicular (fancy word for a cliff elevator), which is an experience in itself.</p>

<p>What makes this place special is the activities – your entry fee (500,000 IDR, or 300,000 if you just want to use the elevator) includes free use of paddleboards, snorkelling gear, and kayaks. After an active day in the water, they light bonfires on the beach at sunset and hand out marshmallows for roasting.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-b8cf3ac7"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-b8cf3ac7" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Sundays-Beach-Club.jpg" alt="Sundays Beach Club In Uluwatu " title="Sundays Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Sundays-Beach-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Sundays-Beach-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Sundays-Beach-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We went with the kids and it was perfect for the whole family. The kids were entertained all day, and we adults could relax knowing they were having a blast in a safe environment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Timbis Beach Club</h3>

<p>For a more understated but equally enjoyable beach club experience in Uluwatu you have Timbis Beach Club. This is about as chilled as it gets and not only overlooks but offers direct access to Pandawa Beach. As you approach via car or scooter (your likely to need one to get here) you&#8217;ll pass through a giant 300 metre road that has been cut through the rock. This is about as an impressive entrance to a club as you can get &#8211; just watch out for the social media posers on the road as you pass through.</p>

<p>Once you arrive at Timbis you&#8217;ll find a small infinity pool with sea views, day beds and sun beds around the pool and then beanbags at the beach. The music is chilled and they do have DJs at the weekend. We visited on a Saturday but the dance vibe didn&#8217;t even really reach a simmer &#8211; so if you want something relaxing this is the place.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-885d1d24"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-885d1d24" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club.jpg" alt="Shades of blue from Timbis Beach Club Infinity Pool" title="Timbis Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" />
<figcaption class="gb-headline gb-headline-b465596e gb-headline-text">Me enjoying the uninterrupted view from the pool at Timbis Beach Club</figcaption>
</figure>

<p>What I love here is the low-ish prices (for Uluwatu), good quality food and drinks, attentive service and of course the incredible sea views and easy beach access.</p>

<p>You should book if you plan to arrive any later than 11am as there&#8217;s limited space. If you want a poolside spot you&#8217;ll be looking at 250-300K per person which gives you all day access and is redeemable against anything you consume. </p>

<p>This is a bit of a hidden gem and the beach is quiet as there&#8217;s not too much around in the very near vicinity. They do also have a restaurant area if you just want to visit for lunch or dinner. There&#8217;s no sunset here as it faces south, so why not head here early, enjoy the day and then head back towards the west coast to catch the sunset.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hidden Gems Beyond the Hotspots</h3>

<p>While the big names get all the attention, there are some lesser-known spots worth seeking out if you want to avoid the crowds.</p>

<p>Luna Beach Club in the developing Nuanu City area is rapidly gaining a reputation as the &#8220;Dubai of Bali&#8221; with its outrageous architecture and Utopia Cave Club. I visited just after it opened and was blown away by the design – it feels like something from another planet.</p>

<p>For something completely different, I stumbled upon Times Beach Warung on a day when I couldn&#8217;t face another DJ set. This no-frills spot offers simple loungers, cold Bintangs, and a blessed absence of thumping music. Sometimes that&#8217;s exactly what you need.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay </h3>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/como-uma-canggu.en-gb.html">COMO Uma Canggu</a></strong> &#8211; A sleek beachfront hotel in Canggu offering calm, contemporary luxury within walking distance of Bali’s most famous beach clubs, including Finns and La Brisa.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><a href="https://www.booking.com/hotel/id/alila-seminyak.en-gb.html">Alila Seminyak</a></strong> &#8211; A refined beachfront retreat in Seminyak known for its elegant design, excellent dining, and relaxed sunset vibes close to Potato Head and Ku De Ta.</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Making the Most of Your Beach Club Experience</h2>

<p>After countless (research) days at Bali&#8217;s beach clubs, I&#8217;ve picked up a few tricks:</p>

<p>Book your daybeds online directly through the club websites, especially in high season (June-August). I made the mistake of just showing up to Finns one Saturday in July and ended up having to sit at a regular table like some kind of peasant. Never again.</p>

<p>The minimum spends vary wildly – from a manageable 250,000 IDR at smaller places to eye-watering 12,000,000 IDR at the exclusive cliff clubs. Remember though, this is redeemable against food and drinks, so think of it as a pre-paid tab rather than an entry fee.</p>

<p>Traffic in Bali is no joke, especially around Canggu. I now always use Gojek or Grab rather than trying to drive myself. Much less stressful, and you don&#8217;t have to worry about that second (or third) cocktail.</p>

<p>Weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends. If you hate crowds as much as I do, plan accordingly. And while sunset is the magic hour at most beach clubs, it&#8217;s also when they&#8217;re busiest – book ahead or arrive early to secure a good spot.</p>

<p>Budget-wise, expect to spend 500,000-1,500,000 IDR per person for a full day including a few drinks and food. Not cheap by Bali standards, but still incredible value compared to similar experiences in Europe or the US.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is It All Worth It?</h2>

<p>Look, I&#8217;ve had some of my most memorable travel moments at Bali&#8217;s beach clubs. There&#8217;s something magical about floating in an infinity pool with a cold drink, watching the sun sink into the Indian Ocean while world-class DJs provide the soundtrack.</p>

<p>But they&#8217;re not for everyone. If you&#8217;re after an authentic local experience or you hate crowds, you might want to stick to the quieter beaches and local warungs. And if you&#8217;re on a strict budget, the minimum spends can add up quickly.</p>

<p>That said, even if you just pick one or two to visit during your trip, they offer an experience that&#8217;s uniquely Bali – that perfect blend of natural beauty, hedonistic pleasure, and that indefinable island magic that keeps drawing me back year after year.</p>

<p>Whether you choose to party at Finns, chill at La Brisa, or splurge on a cliff-top experience at Savaya, you&#8217;re in for a day that will probably end up being one of the highlights of your trip. Just remember the sunscreen – trust me on that one.</p>

<p>Perched on Bali’s dramatic southern cliffs, Uluwatu is a place where surf culture meets laid-back luxury. From breathtaking sunsets to ancient temples and hidden beaches, there really is something for everyone. Whether you’re chasing epic waves, soaking up the views, or hunting down the island’s best cafés, you’ll never run out of things to do in Uluwatu.</p>

<p>We stayed for a week during our latest trip to Bali and these are our favourite things we did during our stay in Uluwatu.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Spend The Day At A Beach Club</h2>

<p>Uluwatu is famous for its luxury <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/best-beach-clubs-in-bali/">beach clubs</a>, so you simply have to try at least one during your stay. We spent a day at Timbis Beach Club on Pandawa Beach and it was the perfect family-friendly spot for a relaxed day. You can step straight onto the soft white sand, swim in the turquoise water, or hunt for shells along the shore. The kids loved the infinity pool surrounded by sun loungers and the laid-back atmosphere.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-8d03b394"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-8d03b394" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-.jpg" alt="Timbis Beach Club at Pandawa Beach Uluwatu " title="Timbis Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>My husband visited a very different beach club while we were there: El Kabron. Adults-only, and possibly one of the coolest places he’s ever been (his words), it sits on a cliff above Dreamland Beach — an incredible sunset spot. There’s live music, and the highlight was a violinist playing along to dance tunes as the sun sank behind him. He said I would have loved it (next time maybe)!</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-dbaf68c5"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-dbaf68c5" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron.jpg" alt="El Kabron Beach Club In Uluwatu Near Dreamland Beach At Sunset" title="El Kabron" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/El-Kabron-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Visit Uluwatu Temple And Watch The Kecak Fire Dance</h2>

<p>Uluwatu Temple is again set up high on top of a cliff and is another stunning place to watch the sunset. It is also the venue to go and watch a performance of the Kecak Fire Dance, one of Bali’s most iconic performances — a spellbinding mix of drama, rhythm, and firelight. It tells the story of the Ramayana through music, dance, and chanting. Dozens of men in traditional costumes sit in a circle, rhythmically chanting “cak-cak-cak” while dancers act out the battle between Prince Rama and the evil king Ravana. Flickering torches and bursts of flame create a magical sight in this sacred venue as the sun sets. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-67afde30"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-67afde30" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu.jpg" alt="Kecak Fire Dance At Uluwatu Temple" title="Kecak Fire Dance Uluwatu" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>There are two shows each day (5:45pm and 7pm) but we would advise going to the first one. The sun sets during the performance making it even more special. You can buy tickets in advance but have to pay the entry fee to the temple 50K IDR for adults and 30K IDR for children on entry to the temple. Tickets to the fire dance do sell out so its wise to purchase a few days before you plan to go to avoid disappointment. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Beach Hop</h2>

<p>The beaches in Uluwatu are some of the most stunning beaches in Bali. Each with its own personality and charm. They are often framed by impressive limestone cliffs, have crystal clear water and soft white sand. We sampled quite a few during our stay and they all had their own distinctive feel.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-0436818f"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-0436818f" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg" alt="Cliff top Restaurant Near Uluwatu Beach" title="La Terraza Uluwatu Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Thomas Beach is a long stretch of powdery white sand reached by a short walk and a climb down a steep set of stairs from the main road. When we first arrived, it was high tide, so there wasn’t much beach to sit on. However, there are plenty of little beach bars on stilts, so we sat and watched the waves crash below while sipping coconuts and admiring the surfers’ skill. On our next visit, we checked the tide times and were rewarded with a calm, relaxed atmosphere — sun loungers and umbrellas on the sand, and gentle waters perfect for our daughters to swim in.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-622b0b7c"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-622b0b7c" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Thomas-Beach-.jpg" alt="Thomas Beach At High Tide" title="Thomas Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Thomas-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Thomas-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Thomas-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Padang Padang Beach is a tiny little cove with a lot of personality. You climb down about 120 steps between the rocks to get to the beach and are greeted by a small but beautiful beach with limestone cliffs either side and a few stalls selling drinks and providing the tunes. It can get very crowded, but whenever we visited we manage to find a good spot and enjoyed the buzzing atmosphere. For more details see our <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/padang-padang-beach/">Padang Padang Beach</a> page.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-76299314"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-76299314" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset-.jpg" alt="Padang Padang Beach Otherwise Know As Eat, Pray, Love Beach At Sunset With The Sun Slipping Behind The Rocks" title="Padang Padang Beach at Sunset" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>In contrast, Pandawa Beach is a vast expanse of soft white sand stretching for about 1 km on the Bukit Peninsula. Thanks to its size, it never feels crowded, and the beautiful turquoise water is usually calm, making it great for swimming — unlike many other beaches in the area. We visited while spending the day at Timbis Beach Club and loved being able to stroll along the shore, seeing only a few other people — a rare experience in Bali.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Brunch At Milk &amp; Madu</h2>

<p>Milk &amp; Madu doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Inside, it’s modern and spacious with an industrial-chic style. There’s an open kitchen, plenty of tables, and even a children’s play area — perfect for keeping little ones busy while you wait for your food. </p>

<p>The brunch selection is fantastic, offering something for everyone, from the ultra-healthy Super Brekky Bowl to the indulgent (and delicious) Madu Pancakes topped with cream, strawberries, meringue shards, and honeycomb.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-9bba1653"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-9bba1653" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-Madu-.jpg" alt="Milk &amp; Madu Great For Brunch In Uluwatu " title="Milk &amp; Madu" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-Madu-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-Madu--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-Madu--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-ee9afef2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-ee9afef2" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Super-Brekky-Bowl-at-Milk-Madu.jpg" alt="Pretty and Delicious Super Brekky Bowl At Milk &amp; Madu With Dragon Fruit, Chia Pudding, Seeds and Nuts" title="Super Brekky Bowl at Milk &amp; Madu" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Super-Brekky-Bowl-at-Milk-Madu.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Super-Brekky-Bowl-at-Milk-Madu-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Super-Brekky-Bowl-at-Milk-Madu-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We also loved Nourish, which serves great brunch dishes to eat in or have delivered to your <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/where-to-stay-in-uluwatu-area-resorts-villas-hotels/">Uluwatu accommodation</a>. Their Morning Glory brioche bun — packed with bacon, eggs, avocado, hash brown, onion chutney, and spinach — was delicious!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Surf The Famous Breaks</h2>

<p>Uluwatu is famous for its surf spots, the most iconic being Suluban Beach (also known as Uluwatu Beach). The waves here are often big and powerful, so you really need to be an experienced surfer to tackle them. Strong currents, sharp reefs, and tricky entry and exit points add to the challenge. As we’re not experienced surfers, we chose to watch from nearby restaurants like La Terrazza and Single Fin. We loved soaking up the atmosphere and marvelling at the surfers’ incredible skill.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-1bef9f79"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-1bef9f79" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terrazza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg" alt="Pizza Bites At La Terrazza Uluwatu Beach" title="La Terrazza Uluwatu Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terrazza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terrazza-Uluwatu-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terrazza-Uluwatu-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>If you are a beginner then head to Dreamland beach as it offers a variety of waves that can cater to surfers at different levels, depending on the conditions. It is also the only beach break with a sandy bottom in Uluwatu. Much more appealing to beginners who are worried about surfing at breaks with reefs beneath the waves.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-7d5d7545"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-7d5d7545" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Surf-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg" alt="Surf At Suluban Uluwatu Beach" title="Surf Uluwatu Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Surf-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Surf-Uluwatu-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Surf-Uluwatu-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Visit GWK Cultural Park</h2>

<p>When we first arrived in Bali, we spotted the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue from the plane window. It’s the fourth-tallest statue in the world (so it’s pretty hard to miss) and the centrepiece of the cultural park. We decided to visit the GWK Cultural Park on our last day in Bali, as it’s close to the airport and our flight wasn’t until the evening.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-f3fed5bb"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-f3fed5bb" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Cultural-Park-.jpg" alt="Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue The World's 4th Tallest Statue" title="GWK Cultural Park" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Cultural-Park-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Cultural-Park--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Cultural-Park--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We booked our tickets in advance, but it isn’t essential — plenty of people were buying them on arrival. A ticket that includes all-day entry and the Barong performance costs IDR 200K, and children under 100 cm go free. You can also add a buggy shuttle service for an extra IDR 40K (definitely worth it, as the main statue is uphill).</p>

<p>From the car park, you take a bus to the entrance, then either walk through the park to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue or hop on the buggy shuttle. The statue is an impressive 122 m tall: a monument of the Hindu god Vishnu riding his mythical bird, Garuda, towering over the GWK Cultural Park. Completed in 2018, its copper-brass form with sweeping wings symbolises protection, courage, and harmony.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-7d38b75f"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-7d38b75f" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Gardens.jpg" alt="Lush Tropical Gardens At GWK Cultural Park Bali" title="GWK Gardens" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Gardens.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Gardens-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-Gardens-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Inside the building there is an interesting exhibition showing traditional Balinese costumes and when we visited we got to have a go at playing the rindik, a bamboo xylophone often played at ceremonies. The park itself is beautiful and there are lots of other statues which you can admire as you wander back down to the entrance. You also have great views from the park&#8217;s elevated position.</p>

<p>It made a great end to our stay in Bali and has a huge gift shop perfect for purchasing those last few souvenirs or gifts to take home. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-4f4bc17a"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-4f4bc17a" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Costumes-At-GWK-Park.jpg" alt="Traditional Balinese Costumes At GWK Cultural Park Uluwatu" title="Costumes At GWK Park" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Costumes-At-GWK-Park.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Costumes-At-GWK-Park-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Costumes-At-GWK-Park-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Although Uluwatu is fully geared up for tourists it feels less touristy than areas like Canggu or Kuta. Once a surfers’ hideaway, it now has a relaxed mix of locals, expats, and boutique villas. I loved Uluwatu’s vibe — everything is more spread out, but with cheap taxis and lighter traffic, it’s easy to get around. Whether you’re chasing waves, soaking up sunsets, or exploring hidden temples, Uluwatu offers the perfect balance of adventure and tranquillity.</p>

<p>Padang Padang beach is truly a little slice of paradise, with soft white sand nestled between towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters. It has a very different atmosphere from other beaches we’ve visited in Bali and is definitely one of my favourites.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-92d8e0c9"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-92d8e0c9" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-beach-.jpg" alt="Padang Padang Beach In Uluwatu, Bali A Lively Atmosphere " title="Padang Padang beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We stayed just a three-minute walk from Padang Padang Beach for a week, giving us plenty of opportunities to enjoy its unique charm.</p>

<p>Here, we share a comprehensive guide based on our own experiences and discuss the pros and cons of this tiny cove with a big personality.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Get To Padang Padang Beach</h2>

<p>Padang Padang Beach is nestled among the dramatic cliffs on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula in Uluwatu. The entrance is on the main road (Jalan Labuan Sait), with a car park opposite. Parking costs 3,000 IDR for cars and 2,000 IDR for scooters.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading has-text-align-center">Our Favourite Places To Stay In Uluwatu</h3>

<p><strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/recommends/anantara-uluwatu/">Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort</a></strong> &#8211; is a luxury eco-retreat with stylish private villas, plunge pools, and lush gardens.</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/recommends/gravity-eco-boutique-hotel/">Gravity Eco Boutique Hotel</a></strong> &#8211; is an adults-only hideaway with tropical bungalows, pools, ocean views and thoughtful eco-conscious touches. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/recommends/three-monkeys-villas-uluwatu/">Three Monkeys Villas</a> </strong> &#8211; A tranquil boutique retreat of private, air-conditioned bungalows clustered around a lush garden pool, just steps from Uluwatu&#8217;s surfing points and temples.</p>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Entrance&nbsp;</h2>

<p>To access Padang Padang, you’ll need to pay at the desk near the entrance to the beach: 15K IDR for adults and 10K IDR for children (under-threes go free). They only accept cash, so make sure you bring enough to avoid disappointment.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-fd15749d"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-fd15749d" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Steps-To-Padang-Padang-sharp.jpg" alt="Narrow Steps Down To Padang Padang Beach " title="Steps To Padang Padang sharp" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Steps-To-Padang-Padang-sharp.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Steps-To-Padang-Padang-sharp-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Steps-To-Padang-Padang-sharp-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>From there, you’ll follow a one-way path that winds between the cliff and a fallen rock — it’s quite narrow in places. The walk down isn’t long, but there are around 120 steps. Going down is easy, but you’ll work up a bit of a sweat on the way back up! Keep an eye out for the monkeys that live in the area, as they’re known for trying to snatch anything you’re carrying. Personally, I think it all adds to the adventure, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Beach </h2>

<p>The beach itself is small, but in my eyes that only adds to its charm. It can get very busy at times, so if you want a good spot it’s best to arrive early — or, as we often did, head down an hour or so before sunset, when some people are starting to leave.</p>

<p>If you’ve watched <em>Eat, Pray, Love</em>, this beach is definitely one to add to your bucket list. Just be warned: you won’t have it to yourself like Liz and Felipe did!</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-40f424c1"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-40f424c1" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset-.jpg" alt="Padang Padang Beach Otherwise Know As Eat, Pray, Love Beach At Sunset With The Sun Slipping Behind The Rocks" title="Padang Padang Beach at Sunset" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-at-Sunset--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Padang Padang in real life has a lively buzz, with little stalls selling coconuts, cold Bintang, and even cocktails. Music drifts through the air, and you can watch surfers tackle the famous break known as the Balinese Pipeline (definitely not for beginners!).</p>

<p>Although it was always busy when we visited, we never struggled to find a spot to throw down our towels and enjoy an atmosphere quite different from the beaches we’d just left in Gili Air. Our favourite time of day was definitely sunset, when the sky turns golden, the sun slips behind the rocks, and its light shimmers across the water.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Facilities At Padang Padang Beach</h2>

<p>There are toilets and simple showers towards the back of the beach — just enough to rinse off the sand before heading out for something to eat. You can also hire surfboards here, but be aware that the waves can be challenging and sometimes dangerous, so surfing is best left to those with plenty of experience.</p>

<p>If surfing isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy a swim in the shallow water, which is usually calm near the shore. At low tide, you’ll even find small pools perfect for paddling.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-cdb1caa6"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-cdb1caa6" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Boulder.jpg" alt="Boulder Separating PArts Of Padang Padang Beach " title="Padang Padang Boulder" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Boulder.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Boulder-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Boulder-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>A huge boulder separates the main part of the beach from a quieter section further along the cove. However, we were a little put off venturing there after seeing a monkey steal someone’s bag and another snatch a phone straight out of someone’s hand on our first visit — so beware!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s Nearby </h2>

<p>The main road near Padang Padang is lined with cafés and restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. We were lucky enough to sample plenty of them, as we were staying so close by. Our favourite family-friendly spot for any time of day was <strong>Milk &amp; Madu</strong>. They serve an incredible breakfast — think the best avo toast you’ve ever had, amazing pancake stacks, and super-healthy smoothie bowls that are as pretty as they are tasty. They also offer great dishes throughout the day, often have special offers, and host live music in the evenings. There’s even a small play area for kids and occasional children’s activities, especially at weekends.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-92634db9"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-92634db9" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-And-Madu-French-Toast.jpg" alt="French Toast Fro Breakfast At Milk And Madu Uluwatu" title="Milk And Madu French Toast" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-And-Madu-French-Toast.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-And-Madu-French-Toast-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Milk-And-Madu-French-Toast-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>If you’re after something a little fancier, <strong>Kala</strong> is my go-to restaurant, with its understated décor and cool vibe. We were lucky to walk in and get a table, but we later learned it’s best to book ahead. The Greek-inspired menu was amazing — everything we tried was delicious.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-a827b4a7"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-a827b4a7" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kala-Padang-Padang-.jpg" alt="Greek Inspired Food At Kala In Uluwatu" title="Kala Padang Padang" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kala-Padang-Padang-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kala-Padang-Padang--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kala-Padang-Padang--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>For a meal or drink with a view, head to <strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/recommends/6775-2/">Suarga Padang Padang</a></strong>, a four-star hotel boasting breathtaking panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. I didn’t try the food, but I did enjoy a delicious avocado matcha while looking out to sea from the clifftop terrace.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-c7c44827"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-c7c44827" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Suarga.jpg" alt="Amazing Views From Suarga Padang Padang Hotel's Terrace " title="Suarga" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Suarga.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Suarga-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Suarga-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>In summary, if you’re looking for a quiet, laid-back beach with sun loungers, beanbags, and waiter service, Padang Padang isn’t the place for you. But if you want somewhere with a cool vibe, lively atmosphere, and gorgeous scenery, it definitely deserves a spot on your Uluwatu itinerary.</p>

<p>When we first started to plan our trip to Bali we felt totally overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. After a lot of research we managed to narrow down the places we wanted to visit so that everyone in the family would be happy. </p>

<p>We actually stayed for 30 days (we left the day our visa expired) but from this experience and from the mistakes we&#8217;ve made along the way we&#8217;ve come up with the perfect 2 week itinerary for your next Bali trip. </p>

<p><strong><a href="https://biglittletravels.com/recommends/mowies-on-the-beach/">Mowies On The Beach</a></strong> (Gili Air) &#8211; is a laid-back beachfront stay on Gili Air with great food, friendly staff, and stunning sunset views.</p>

</div>
</div>

<p>We have chosen our 4 favourite places in Bali as I think this is the perfect amount to feel like you have seen what the country is like. Even though the island isn&#8217;t that big it does take quite a long time to travel around certain areas due to the traffic. It also totally depends if you have been to Bali before &#8211; I&#8217;d say this 2 week Bali itinerary is perfect if you&#8217;ve never been before &#8211; if you have, skip the places you&#8217;ve visited and try somewhere new. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Getting Around Bali </h2>

<p>Our top tip is to hire a driver for the day when moving from one location to another. It costs around 500K IDR for 5 &#8211; 6 hours and its a really good way to combine seeing a bit more of the island and keeping your luggage safe between check out from one place and check in at your next destination. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Day 1 &#8211; 4 Seminyak</h2>

<p>Seminyak is a great first stop as its not too far from the airport and has everything you need to help you settle into island life. Seminyak sits on the west coast of Bali so is the perfect place to sit in a beach bar and watch the sunset, one of life&#8217;s little pleasures on this side of the island. </p>

<p>A must do for Seminyak is visiting one of <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/best-beach-clubs-in-bali/">Bali&#8217;s famous beach clubs</a> such as Potato Head and Ku De Ta however there are plenty to choose from and they all have their own vibe.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-87ea3c89"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-87ea3c89" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Seminyak-Petitenget-Beach-.jpg" alt="Sunset from Alila Beach Club Petitenget Beach Seminyak" title="Seminyak Petitenget Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Seminyak-Petitenget-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Seminyak-Petitenget-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Seminyak-Petitenget-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>There are plenty of amazing <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/7-best-hotels-in-seminyak-bali/">hotels and villas in Seminyak</a>, and wherever you stay in this area you won&#8217;t be far from the action. The traffic isn&#8217;t quite as crazy as Canggu so getting around isn&#8217;t too tricky most of the time.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re seeking nightlife then be sure to check out La Favela and Mexicola &#8211; probably in reverse order of that &#8211; the former being a great late night haunt with a jungle/outdoor vibe.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Day 5 &#8211; 6 Ubud </h2>

<p>Unlike Seminyak&#8217;s buzzing beach clubs and nightlife Ubud is the cultural and spiritual heart of Bali. It is surrounded by lush rice terraces, jungle valleys and temples. It is known for its chilled yoga studios, art and crafts workshops and chilled cafes. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-f7964708"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-f7964708" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Rice-Fields-Near-Ubud-.jpg" alt="Walking through the rice fields near Ubud " title="Rice Fields Near Ubud" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Rice-Fields-Near-Ubud-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Rice-Fields-Near-Ubud--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Rice-Fields-Near-Ubud--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We really recommend staying near the centre of Ubud, as the traffic going in and out can be a nightmare. </p>

<p>We found a villa overlooking a jungle valley, tucked away on one of the quieter streets &#8211; check it out on our <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/best-places-to-stay-in-ubud/">best Ubud accommodation</a> page. It was still within walking distance of everything but gave us a peaceful retreat from the traffic on the main road. Instead of being woken up by scooters, we were gently woken by the sound of cockerels in the morning—something we hadn’t expected.</p>

<p>To get to Ubud from Seminyak you can hire a driver for the day and make the most of the journey. We stopped at Kemenuh Monkey River which is a riverside sanctuary where you can see monkeys in their natural habitat, feed fruit bats and stroll down to the river where (if you choose) you can experience a traditional water-blessing ceremony. </p>

<p>When we visited it was quiet with only a few other visitors and the monkeys were all very calm (unlike the stories we&#8217;ve heard of Monkey Forest in the centre of Ubud). There&#8217;s also a cute little cafe set amongst the jungle serving a selection of food and drink.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-90df8e5b"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-90df8e5b" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kemenuh-Monkey-River.jpg" alt="Entrance To Kemenuh Monkey River Sanctuary near Ubud " title="Kemenuh Monkey River" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kemenuh-Monkey-River.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kemenuh-Monkey-River-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kemenuh-Monkey-River-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>After our visit to Monkey River we still had time before check in so we headed to a near by waterfall. We had done a bit of research and were looking for a waterfall that wasn&#8217;t going to be too busy (we&#8217;re not into spending an hour queuing just to get that shot for instagram). </p>

<p>We found Uma Anyar Waterfall was close and looked perfect. T</p>

<p>o access Uma Anyar Waterfall you have to go to Kemenuh village where you have to pay an entrance fee of 15-20K per person. You are then directed down a little path that and it takes about 10 minutes to reach the waterfall. When we arrived there were only 2 other people there and some helpful locals who were taking photos and helping you to get in the perfect position safely.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-d63b3fb2"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-d63b3fb2" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uma-Anyar-Waterfall-.jpg" alt="Uma Anyar Waterfall Kemenuh Village near Ubud" title="Uma Anyar Waterfall" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uma-Anyar-Waterfall-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uma-Anyar-Waterfall--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uma-Anyar-Waterfall--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Even though we were only just outside Ubud the traffic entering the centre is crazy so what should be a 20 minute ride can sometimes take 1 hour. From chatting to our driver we established it&#8217;s always like this so just be prepared.</p>

<p>In Ubud you will be spoilt for choice when looking for restaurants there are healthy vegan cafes to high end fine dining and everything in between. If you want something more budget friendly head to one of the quieter side streets as the main street and areas near Monkey Forest tend to be more pricey. Visit our <a href="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Best-Restaurants-Ubud-1.jpg">Best Restaurants In Ubud</a> page to find out more. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-f78e0b26"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-f78e0b26" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Food-In-Ubud.jpg" alt="Delicious Food In Ubud Cafes and Restaurants " title="Food In Ubud" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Food-In-Ubud.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Food-In-Ubud-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Food-In-Ubud-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Ubud has lots of temples, museums and art galleries so there is something to suit everyone. On our first full day in Ubud we visited Ubud Water Palace which we loved. It has some beautiful Balinese architecture, statues and stone carvings, which tell tales from Hindu mythology, surrounded by lotus ponds. </p>

<p>The entry price of 60K for adults and 45K for children includes a sarong and jacket to wear so you don&#8217;t need to worry about covering your shoulders and knees. Around the temple are plenty of places to sit and absorb the peaceful atmosphere and the stepping stones across the lotus ponds amused the kids.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-e3e880ac"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-e3e880ac" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ubud-Water-Palace.jpg" alt="Ubud Water Palace " title="Ubud Water Palace" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ubud-Water-Palace.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ubud-Water-Palace-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ubud-Water-Palace-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Close to the Water Palace you will find Ubud Art Market, one of the most popular markets in Bali. It has grown over the years and can get very busy during the middle of the day so our advice is to go early in the morning or late afternoon. </p>

<p>This market has an array of items for sale from colourful sarongs and artisan jewellery to handmade pots. You will also find your typical holiday souvenirs such as bracelets and fridge magnets so there is something for everyone. </p>

<p>My one word of warning is that you do need to barter hard to get a good price, we had already established the going price for a bracelet and found that here they started at about 5 times the price we had previously paid. However, getting a good bargain is all part of the fun and also part of Balinese culture.</p>

<p>From here it is not far to Monkey Forest a nature reserve and temple complex. The sanctuary is home to over 1260 long-tailed macaques, who are considered sacred by the local Balinese people. </p>

<p>The entrance fee is 100K for adults and 80K for children and you can spend 1 &#8211; 2 hours exploring the grounds, admiring the temples and taking photos of the monkeys if you are brave enough. We decided to skip visiting Monkey Forest as we had heard the monkeys can be quite cheeky and the ones here are not at all shy unlike the ones we saw at Monkey River.</p>

<p>On our second morning in Ubud we decided to venture out into the nearby jungle and try some white water rafting. There are two main routes you can do and we chose the easier one as we were doing it with kids. It was a great experience! After a walk through the rice fields and down a lot of steps we arrived at our starting point and had an exhilarating couple of hours. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-125c4d77"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-125c4d77" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/White-Water-Rafting-Ubud-.jpg" alt="White Water Rafting Near Ubud " title="White Water Rafting Ubud" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/White-Water-Rafting-Ubud-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/White-Water-Rafting-Ubud--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/White-Water-Rafting-Ubud--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>As well as the beach clubs Bali also has jungle clubs a lot of which you will find surrounding Ubud. We chose to spend the afternoon relaxing at The Jungle Club a complex of infinity pools overlooking the jungle with a really chilled vibe. We had something to eat in the restaurant and enjoyed lounging around the pools in this beautiful setting. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-d5c50450"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-d5c50450" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-near-Ubud.jpg" alt="Luxury Jungle Club Near Ubud Colourful Cocktail And Infinity Pool Overlooking The Jungle" title="The Jungle Club near Ubud" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-near-Ubud.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-near-Ubud-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/The-Jungle-Club-near-Ubud-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Day 7 &#8211; 10 Gili Air</h2>

<p>Gili Air is a tiny idyllic island which is off the coast of Lombok but only about 2 hours away from Bali by ferry. Some people choose to do a day trip to the Gili Islands but I would definitely recommend staying for a few nights to really get a feel for the place and enjoy a slower pace of life that this island offers you. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-7ba5ac29"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-7ba5ac29" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Gili-Air-Beach-Road-.jpg" alt="Tranquil Setting On Gili Air Beach Road With Beanbags On The Sand" title="Gili Air Beach Road" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Gili-Air-Beach-Road-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Gili-Air-Beach-Road--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Gili-Air-Beach-Road--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>From Ubud it is takes about 1 &#8211; 2 hours to get to Padang Bai Harbour where you can get a ferry to Lombok and all 3 Gili islands. We did lots of research into the best company to travel with and found the Eka Jaya fast ferry was the safest and most comfortable. </p>

<p>Gili Air has no cars or scooters so when you arrive you have to choose between walking to your accommodation or getting a horse and cart. We chose reluctantly chose a horse and cart as our villa was on the opposite side of the island, if you are staying closer or have less luggage than us then walking is definitely an option. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-d6da5776"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-d6da5776" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Horse-and-Cart-Gili-Air-1.jpg" alt="Transfer By Horse And Cart Gili Air " title="Horse and Cart Gili Air (1)" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Horse-and-Cart-Gili-Air-1.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Horse-and-Cart-Gili-Air-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Horse-and-Cart-Gili-Air-1-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>When we had unpacked we headed straight out to explore the northern shore of the island where we were staying which was lined with cute little bars and restaurants with tables, chairs and bean bags on the sand. This is where we stumbled upon a little restaurant serving amazing poke bowls while you sat on a beanbag beneath a tree on the soft white sand. Thats when I knew I was going to love Gili Air. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-66979c7e"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-66979c7e" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Poke-Bowl-Gili-Air.jpg" alt="Poke Bowls On The Beach Bean Bags Gili Air" title="Poke Bowl Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Poke-Bowl-Gili-Air.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Poke-Bowl-Gili-Air-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Poke-Bowl-Gili-Air-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>We hired bikes for the whole time we stayed on Gili Air and it was the best decision we made. We all loved hoping on our bikes to go to the beach, a local cafe or in my case to get to a sun rise yoga class (if I had been walking I would have missed it!). We wondered when we booked 4 nights in Gili Air whether that would be too long and questioned whether there would be enough to do but by the end of our stay we were wishing we could stay longer. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-af8c6320"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-af8c6320" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air-.jpg" alt="View From Gili Air Cafe with Bike And Indonesian Flag " title="Bike On Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bike-On-Gili-Air--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>On Gili Air you can just enjoy the natural beauty and a slower pace of life but there are also plenty of activities as well. My husband is a padel fan and was surprised to find a brand new padel court, you can snorkel directly from the beach in most places and can see turtles near the coral in the north east. There are plenty of little shops to browse and lots of spas offering massages and beauty treatments. However, my favourite activity was to sit on a bean bag sipping on a coconut while watching the sunset. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-4dd8e6f8"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-4dd8e6f8" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Boat-Trip-Gili-Air-.jpg" alt="Snorkelling Trip From Gili Air To Gili T and Gili Meno" title="Boat Trip Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Boat-Trip-Gili-Air-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Boat-Trip-Gili-Air--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Boat-Trip-Gili-Air--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>If you do fancy a change of scene you can hop on a boat to nearby Gili T (known as the party island) or Gili Meno (even more chilled than Gili Air). You can either get a speed boat or go on the island hopper ferry. </p>

<p>We decided that as we hadn&#8217;t done much snorkelling before we would go on an organised snorkelling trip which took you to 4 different places around the 3 islands with a stop for something to eat on Gili Meno. Our guide helped us find turtles which was amazing and showed us where the underwater statues were, which were amazing but it was very busy. The array of fish we saw was stunning and my daughters particularly loved seeing the turtles close up.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Day 11 &#8211; 14 Uluwatu</h2>

<p>Uluwatu is the very southern tip of Bali, so Gili Air to Uluwatu was the furthest we travelled while in Bali. The journey consisted of taking the fast boat from Gili Air to Padang Bai and then hiring a driver to take us from Padang Bai all the way to Uluwatu with a stop for lunch in Sanur. In total it took us about 6 hours but it wasn&#8217;t an arduous journey, we sat on the top deck of the ferry and enjoyed the view and slept for some of the car journey. </p>

<p>The landscape in Uluwatu is very different to Seminyak as it is set on the top of cliffs giving amazing dramatic scenery and stunning views out to sea. Our villa was close to Padang Padang Beach so our first experience of a beach in Uluwatu was climbing down lots of steps and trying to avoid being mugged by a monkey. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-6d555db9"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-6d555db9" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-Uluwatu.jpg" alt="Padang Padang Beach at Sunset in Uluwatu" title="Padang Padang Beach Uluwatu" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-Uluwatu.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-Uluwatu-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Padang-Padang-Beach-Uluwatu-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The steps are all worth it though as the beach is a really pretty little cove surrounded by cliffs. There are people selling cold beers, coconuts and cocktails from makeshift bars playing tunes which bring a chilled party atmosphere. It&#8217;s a great place to throw down beach towel and watch the sunset behind the rocky shore. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-1f15ce6c"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-1f15ce6c" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg" alt="Cliff top Restaurant Near Uluwatu Beach " title="La Terraza Uluwatu Beach" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/La-Terraza-Uluwatu-Beach--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>While in Uluwatu we really enjoyed the cool cafes for brunch, cliff top restaurants and watching the surfers from beach bars. There are so many cool places to visit it was hard to choose where to eat and we found some amazing food but I think my favourite was Milk &amp; Madu for brunch and Kala for dinner. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-789c4855"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-789c4855" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uluwatu-Cliff-View-From-Near-Padang-Padang.jpg" alt="Stunning View From Cliff Top Near Padang Padang Beach Uluwatu" title="Uluwatu Cliff View From Near Padang Padang" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uluwatu-Cliff-View-From-Near-Padang-Padang.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uluwatu-Cliff-View-From-Near-Padang-Padang-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Uluwatu-Cliff-View-From-Near-Padang-Padang-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>While in Uluwatu you have to try one of their famous beach clubs. Our favourites were El Kabron (adults only) which is perched at the top of a cliff and offers amazing sunset views with live music, and Timbis (family friendly) with a much more relaxed atmosphere situated right on Pandawa Beach. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-c861c165"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-c861c165" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club.jpg" alt="Shades of blue from Timbis Beach Club Infinity Pool " title="Timbis Beach Club" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Timbis-Beach-Club-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>For a more cultural experience, head to Uluwatu temple for the Kecak fire dance a Balinese Hindu performance featuring men in a circle who chant rhythmically while a story from the Hindu epic Ramayana unfolds through dance and vibrant costumes. We visited at sunset which was beautiful as Uluwatu Temple is set up high on a cliff. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-7650ff94"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-7650ff94" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu.jpg" alt="Kecak Fire Dance At Uluwatu Temple " title="Kecak Fire Dance Uluwatu" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kecak-Fire-Dance-Uluwatu-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>GWK Cultural Park in Bali’s Bukit Peninsula is home to the 121-metre Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue which is taller than the Statue of Liberty. The park spans around <strong>60 hectares</strong> and features dramatic limestone plazas, an amphitheatre with daily cultural performances like the Kecak fire dance and we even got to have a go at playing the rindik, a traditional Balinese instrument. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-43734220"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-43734220" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-cultural-Park.jpg" alt="Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park Huge Statues In Beautiful Grounds" title="GWK cultural Park" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-cultural-Park.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-cultural-Park-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/GWK-cultural-Park-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>It&#8217;s a lovely place to stroll around looking at all of the statues and admiring the views. We visited before we went to the airport on our last day as its really close. We had lunch with a distant view of the airport in the restaurant at GWK and did last minute souvenir shopping in the gift shop which is definitely a lot cheaper than doing it in duty-free. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Have Longer? Check Out Our 1 Month Trip:</h2>

<iframe loading="lazy" width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZMbG2yl5V8c?si=UtUpEOGWLdAUq5SK" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<p>The reality is that you&#8217;ll not see a lot of Bali in just two weeks. You could spend 2 months there and still only see a fraction of the island. Take the above itinerary and make it work for you. If you don&#8217;t fancy the travelling over to the Gili Islands then why not have a chilled stay in Sanur or head to East Bali for a different feel to busier West Bali. </p>

<p>My main tip though, would be to not spend too much time travelling as the traffic is hellish. Plan your trips wisely so you don&#8217;t double back on yourself and spend more time on the road than needed. Above all &#8211; enjoy &#8211; the planning is half of the fun!</p>

<p>Villa Tokay is one of the island’s most unique stays, with stunning bamboo architecture, private pools, and lush tropical gardens. The rooms are all thoughtfully and stylishly decorated with great attention to detail. </p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-c902f9f7"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-c902f9f7" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Tokay-Gili-Air.jpg" alt="Unique architecture of Villa Tokay On Gili Air" title="Villa Tokay Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Tokay-Gili-Air.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Tokay-Gili-Air-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Tokay-Gili-Air-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

While staying there you get free bikes and snorkelling gear, making it easy to explore the island, while still having your own private sanctuary to retreat to. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone who wants a stylish place to stay on the island.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pink Coco </h2>

<p>Pink Coco is located not far from Mowies, on the west coast, so it’s also a great spot for sunsets. The main difference is this hotel is adults-only. Its distinctive décor, with accents of bright pink, really makes it stand out, and it has a very cool and trendy vibe.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-3d115348"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-3d115348" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Pink-Coco-Gili-Air-Pool-.jpg" alt="Pink Coco in Gili Air With Constant Surprises and For Cool Adults Only" title="Pink Coco Gili Air Pool" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Pink-Coco-Gili-Air-Pool-.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Pink-Coco-Gili-Air-Pool--300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Pink-Coco-Gili-Air-Pool--768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Centred around a lovely pool area that leads directly onto the beach, it also has a restaurant and bar with tables and beanbags on the sand. There’s even a huge pink swing in the sea for guests to enjoy — and, of course, to snap a few pictures for Instagram.</p>

<p>The rooms themselves are stunning, decorated with unusual and unique touches and the pink theme is carried out tastefully throughout. The staff are friendly and helpful and even provide little tasty surprises throughout the day for all the guests.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Villa Gilimakyah</h2>

<p>As soon as we walked into Villa Gilimakyah, we knew we had found the perfect place for our Gili Air stay. It is extremely spacious, with a large living area, three bedrooms, an outdoor terrace, and a large garden with a private pool. Crafted from wood with gorgeous details such as tiled floors and a thatched roof, it has a traditional feel yet all the comforts you need. The host is always there to help — on check-out we left something behind, and she cycled down to the port to give it to us just before the boat left.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-875b1bf8"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-875b1bf8" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Gilimakaya.jpg" alt="Villa Gilimakaya on Gili Air an idyllic island with no cars or scooters and white sandy beaches" title="Villa Gilimakaya" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Gilimakaya.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Gilimakaya-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Gilimakaya-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The garden is filled with lush tropical plants, and the pool area is a peaceful retreat after exploring the island. We loved the central location, as we could hop on our bikes and be anywhere on the island in just over 10 minutes. Being in the north of the island, away from the harbour, made it quieter but still within easy walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kaluku Gili Resort</h2>

<p>Kaluku Gili Resort is situated on the northeast coast, which is ideal if you love snorkelling. Although you can snorkel all around the island, this is one of the best spots to see turtles just a few metres from the beach.each.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-8540f615"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-8540f615" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kaluku-Gili-Resort-Gili-Air.jpg" alt="Kaluku Resort In Gili Air" title="Kaluku Gili Resort Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kaluku-Gili-Resort-Gili-Air.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kaluku-Gili-Resort-Gili-Air-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Kaluku-Gili-Resort-Gili-Air-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The traditional rice barn–inspired bungalows are set in beautiful grounds around a pool, with direct beach access. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are extremely friendly, helping you to hire bikes, snorkelling equipment, or anything else you need. As it is on the east coast its the perfect spot for early risers, you can stroll out onto the sand and watch the sunrise. I enjoyed rolling out my yoga mat on the empty beach and doing some morning stretches before everyone else was up. </p>

<p>If you’re dreaming of your own little hideaway on Gili Air, Atoll Haven Villas is exactly that. Think private pool, whitewashed walls, and a calm, laid-back vibe.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-9c44b2f0"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-9c44b2f0" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Atol-Haven-Villas-Gili-Air.jpg" alt="Atol Haven Villas In Gili Air, Indonesia " title="Atol Haven Villas Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Atol-Haven-Villas-Gili-Air.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Atol-Haven-Villas-Gili-Air-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Atol-Haven-Villas-Gili-Air-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>The villas are cosy and bright, with all the little comforts you’d want. The terrace looks straight out onto your pool, and the semi-open bathroom (one of my favourite features) has that tropical touch that makes showering feel like part of the holiday. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Markisa Villas</h2>

<p>Markisa Villas offer the luxury of a private pool right in the centre of the island, making everywhere easily accessible. The villas are beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is included, with a wide range of options to start your day right.</p>

<figure class="gb-block-image gb-block-image-bf612ab5"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="900" height="600" class="gb-image gb-image-bf612ab5" src="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Markisa-Gili-Air.jpg" alt="Villa Markisa Gili Air with Gorgeous Pool and Garden" title="Villa Markisa Gili Air" srcset="https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Markisa-Gili-Air.jpg 900w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Markisa-Gili-Air-300x200.jpg 300w, https://biglittletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Villa-Markisa-Gili-Air-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>As the villas are set away from the main street it is lovely and quiet but you don&#8217;t have to walk far to get to shops and restaurants. The staff are extremely helpful and willing to do anything to help you enjoy your stay. The large garden and pool are perfect for families as they give you a little more outdoor space than some of the other villas on the island. </p>
